Should Pens miss out....

Postby supermario on Mon Jun 25, 2012 8:06 pm

On Suter and Parise, any interest in Iginla? Would he be available from a flames team that really needs a rebuild? Didn't think it was possible until before this weekend.

I dont see Iggy moved. He's the face of that franchise. I see him retiring a Flame.

if we aren't willing to give parise what it takes to get him here, we won't be willing to take on iginla's salary

I was just thinking...ya know, we need more threads about individual players that we have little chance of getting...

Flames don't know what they're doing. Knowing how that franchise is run...they'll start a rebuild in January and trade Iginla and Kiprusoff to the highest bidder (well, probably not highest, it is Calgary...) and then go on a 7 game winning streak and acquire [insert former Flame here] and [insert a different former Flame here] at the deadline just to finish 10th in the West...

If they move him, which I kind of doubt...unless they are way way out of it at the deadline, and even then it's only maybe...we're talking a major asset or two...they'd probably want Morrow, Bennett, a 1st and a conditional 2nd that becomes a 1st in 2014 if we win the Cup. Or something along those lines right now for him...and even then I'm not sure they bite...

I was at a cookout on Saturday and we were talking about all of the news going on with the Pens. A few people said they heard "rumors" that the Pens were interested in Malone..

I havent done too much digging around for sources, but can anyone else shed any light to these rumors?

I know the beginning of his contract was atrocious, but now since hes towards the end of it, i dont beleive it to be THAT incredibly bad. I wouldnt mind seeing him back here. He is what Tangradi was "supposed" to be.

it's still a 4.5 mil cap hit for a guy who needs top line minutes and top line pp time to get a half point a game. way too much money for that kind of production.

Agreed. He has been regarded as lazy and noncompetitive for quite a while, especially on this board. Now people are including him as a target. :face:

If thats who your saying we should sign..

PAP Sucks
Semin has no heart and only shows up 15 games a season
David Jones just (weeks ago) signed a 4 year -16 million dollar contract with COL
Trade who for Bobby Ryan? The magical Martin+Kennedy duo? Sweeten the pot with Tangradi?

Bryan Allen I agree with, hes a shot blocker that I do like

Hal Gill would be more for nostalgia IMO

I feel the same way with Parrento. I want absolutely nothing to do with that franchise especially with what almost happened this past weekend. Unless it Okposo, Tavares, and I would ponder Streit I do not want.
