Hoping Shero doesn't share the same nostalgia many fans and some posters have. Gill and Eaton are past their best.
Not the pieces we need, though were he available I would welcome 'The Piece' with open arms *feels fan nostalgia guilt

I fully believe that if Shero strikes out on Suter; that he will revisit Phoenix and try to get Keith Yandle or Ratislav Klesla.

TSN reporting Gill reupped with the Preds. Just a tweet at this point, nothing on their website.

I don't get why any decent UFA veteran D man would re-sign with their own team before July 1. There is such a lack of quality d men in this UFA pool. Gill and Sarich could/would have gotten more then 2 years $4mill total on the open market I'm sure, and quite possibly from their existing clubs. Nothing long with a little competition on the open market...just my opinion...

Because they don't care about the money?
Both Gill and Sarich have been around a while.

Any chance Mark Eaton is back or Bryce Salvador?
Bryce is physical which is what we need.

That's like saying that 80's hair band rock stars wanted to play in a rock band because they wanted to make great music....we both know that's not true

Some players hate the unrestricted free agency process and don't wish to go through with it.

I'm a big Salvador fan. I'd gladly take him on the Pens. Eaton I would not be overly excited about...

The more defensemen Shero signs, the worse the defense gets.

I'm glad Gill resigned with Preds. Now i wont have to see " Sign Gill " posts for the next 3 days. Aint hatin on the big guy, just dont want him back. Salvador would be a nice add for a year, he's 37 i believe, anything longer no thanks. Bryan Allen is more realistic. How bout Sheldon Souray? Mid 30's UFA, still serviceable for a year or two....Just tossin it out there.

Yeah, was just throwing out a name. Saw him a few times last year, didnt look bad. Certainly not the player he once was.

I think Bryan Allen would be a very solid signing. I am not even certain pens should over pay for Suter. Get Parise, Doan and Allen.

Would be happy with that, but if they don't get Suter will they defo retain Martin? Can't imagine he wants to stay that much, aside from his breakfast bond with Neal...

Not sure if just didn't want to be inconvenienced by a single thread, or just inexplicably thinks Hal Gill is a poor defenseman.

Bryan Allen needs to be signed. Pens should not throw down 2 big contracts for Parise and Suter. Get parise, sign Allen, Doan, and Konopka. Done. Start using Despres , Bortuzzo or Morrow this season.

The former not the latter. However i will now be subjected to "sign Colby Armstrong" posts.

If only Ray Shero had resigned Gill and Scuderi instead of letting them walk we wouldn't be in this position.
