+1 for Zanon.
Our defense needs to get bigger, the end. I'm thinking we are likely to see another big trade if Shero doesn't like what's out there in UFA land. There's no way he goes into this season with our defense actually getting worse (losing Michalek).

Allen, Salvador, Zanon I would be fine with if we miss the Suter boat...

Garrison has a canon from the point, I'd bring him in to break up that little "pack the net" defense some teams like to play against us.

I can't say I know much about Garrison, but I've heard he's going to get big money come Sunday....overpaid...

In my opinion, I think our first FA signing will be Allen. Then we go all-in on Parise. B/c honestly I see Suter taking his sweet *** time making a decision. Something we cannot wait for.
I would be fine with our defense if we only got allen, as long as we got Parise that is...

Getting bigger and tougher on D doesnt address why we lost. It also doesn't mesh with why LA won.

Zanon and Michalek are carbon copies of each other. Except Zanon is terrible.

My dark horse candidate: Kent Huskins. Injury prone the last few years but solid when he was healthy. Not sure if those injuries have taken their toll on his game though. decent size, steady defensively, does a lot of little things well and has cup winning experience. Salary would probably allow the Pens to keep Martin and still go after Parise, although I'm not sure some people would view that as a positive.

I think Dreger tweeted Garrison could get 5 mil per over 5 years.

Zanon was never that good. He was one of those flavor of the month players that a bunch of people around here were clamoring for for no apparent reason. There was never a reason to actively pursue him, which is why they didn't.

i wouldnt say that it was just around here that the zanon overvaluing took place. you can add zanon to the hockey fan reactionary want list with Preissing and OK Tollefsen.

Absolutely agree Hugo. For me, Parise, Doan and Konopka for offense. bryan Allen for D. Bye Bye Martin.
