He's mature, he's just a career AHL'er. They could probably use another year of him in the AHL for their other prospects to turn pro, though this is kind of a head scratcher for him. Unless there's an injury, he's got no chance of playing in the NHL here. At least on a team with substandard goaltending he might compete for a backup job. But then the backup market is heavy so he might not even get a contract in free agency. Who knows.

They must not be happy with Fleury if they are signing more goalies...

Thiessen should be thanking his lucky stars he has a contract, period. He stunk at the big show last season. He's only holding an AHL spot until the new draftees move up.

Shero's comments about TV competing for starting time in net indicates that they are not happy with MAF.

I don't get why Thiessen would quit so early in his young career...

That's a little harsh. He had one really bad game last year.

He's a good third goalie to have in case of an emergency

Thiessen has been a disappointment. Otherwise, Vokoun would not be on Pens right now. Thiessen can't do the job. But, we all have our opinions and I respect that.

I though Thiessen did a relatively decent job in the NHL last year, but his rebound control was horrible. If he can get a handle on that he could make a decent back up.

Thiessen looked pretty much like Fleury did in the playoffs. The team in front of him played garbage defense.
He's fine as a backup but Vokoun is an infinitely better option right now.

Thiessen looks very small in net, I don't think he has what it takes for the NHL

Zatkoff will end up being the starter for WBS. Could be a hell of a sleeper signing. Theissen, not so much.
