Here are my thoughts, since I know you are all waiting with bated breath.....
IF Parise wasn't signing here, I wanted him to go to Minnesota. Least affect for the Pens. I can't blame the guy for taking a hometown discount. I did not want to see Suter with the Wings or Flyers, so he landing in Minnesota is also fine.
What to do now? The Staal trade was a good one. It was necessary, we got just as good of a defensive 3rd line Center, a top D prospect and the #8th overall. Sutter may not be as good as Staal, but when your 3rd line Center is that good of a defensive guy and leader and can score 20, well on one hand you can count those guys in the NHL.
The Tanner Glass signing was great. Top 5 in the league in hits, from a winger. Fantastic. Now what? First off, don't overemphasize the Philly series. We played as stupid and as bad as could be. Fleury played as bad as can be. Signing Zach Parise doesn't change that.
Maybe look at Shane Doan. He has never sniffed the Cup. We could be attractive, even a 1 or 2 year deal.....that way if he scores 30, he can go back to Winnipeg or Phoenix with a nice contract and a ring.
Maybe make a play at Bobby Ryan. Anaheim isn't exactly loaded with D Prospects and we are.
It is not the end of the world. I am just happy that Parise and/or Sutter isn't playing in Detroit, in Philly, in Chicago or even Newark.

If we're going the trade route for that LW spot next to Sid...Brendan Morrow. One year left at $4,100,000. Not too much risk if he isn't healthy most of the year.

I'm down with that. Come playoff team you can never have enough Morrow types.

1. Sign another Mironov and Fedatenko for this season. 2. Come trade deadline, make a few deals for another Kunitz and Guerin. 3. Hire AHL coach to replace our coach. 4. Win cup, call Suter and Parise and tell them thanks.
I want the Pens to do nothing on the blue line unless it involves a trade to get a winger.
Wingers i would look at:
1. Shane Doan 2. Brenden Morrow 3. Chris Stewart 4. Bobby Ryan
If you can't find a career winger for Crosby i would prefer a stop-gap player until you find a young guy like James Neal who is still a RFA going into his next deal or moving up in the draft to get someone who you think could fill that roll.
I still think trading for Ryan Malone wouldnt be a bad idea. He could probably be had easily unless tampa has changed their minds, 3 years isn't too long anymore and 4.5m is jump change these days.....
