Giroux crying about Crosby

Postby canaan on Fri Jul 27, 2012 9:28 am

“Those are from (Sidney) Crosby,” he says half smiling, but with some tension in his voice. “Every time we'd line up against each other for a face-off during our (2012 playoff) series, instead of going for the puck when it was dropped, he'd hack me across the wrists. I ended up playing the series against (New) Jersey with one of them fractured and had to go for surgery on both of them after we were out of the playoffs.”

Real teams can win games with their top player dealing with a broken wrist. See 1991-1992 pittsburgh penguins.

(Like sid is the only one doing this. Get over it giroux...this is what happens to every 'best player in the world'. Crosby has been dealing with this for more than half a decade. Expect more of the same)

Yup, sounds he is complaining that Crosby plays the way the Flyers want everyone to think they play. I guess Giroux missed the memo.

I'd complain too if someone broke my wrist(s). Sid needs to end the hacking yesterday. How long before he hacks the wrong person? That stupid obstruction move Giroux pulls on every faceoff is certainly annoying though.

Could you imagine if the tables were turned and Giroux did that to Crosby's wrists and then Sid went to the media about it? The anti-Crosby fest would last for months.

sid needs to settle down. that's 2 playoff series in a row where he's lost his cool to the point where it hurt his team. it's a good thing that he gets all jacked up for these games, but he takes it too far.

with that said, we've seen first hand that giroux is a complete turd when he lines up for faceoffs. if he doesn't want to get his wrists whacked, he should keep his hick mouth shut.

All due respects, while I am a fan of a hack on a draw, Giroux didn't go directly to the media saying "LOOK AT MY WRISTS, THEY BEEN BROKED" but singling out Crosby is what makes me feel like he is whining.

I read it as Clode trying to assign blame (wherever he can place it) for such a let-down in round 2 after such a dominating performance in round 1.

Yeah. We'd be going crazy over it. Glad to see most people are fine with it when it's another teams star. I'm sure Graves got a similar reaction.

I have a few issues with what Giroux said.

1. If it was every draw, why was there no penalties (none I can remember)?
2. If it was every draw, why didn't he add protection to his wrists?

Its obviously an exaggeration fueled by shared hatred with your rival. Those of you making statements about Crosby hopefully are not basing that on anything that the rival Giroux said.

Giroux was good great vs. the Pens, but almost invisible after that, so while maybe his wrists were hurt, I'm sure Crosby was not the only one to make contact with them.

Why single out a player? This is yet one more example of how the hatred must run deep between those teams.

Great find by the way.... A Timmins paper.... Are you seeking out Shania Twain news? ;)

So getting thumped by your rival is not going to make you a little.... irritated?

Sid has shown progression in every aspect of his hockey career so far. I'm sure he'll learn from the Philly series.
