Yeah, several things I've seen suggest that with the onset of alcohol/recreational drugs (the latter hopefully not relevant for pro athletes) the human body and mind battle a steady postponement in maturation, sometimes locked in a state of regression and mental faculty deterioration.

I've read that an outcast, hadicapped monkey named Tonkin overcame the odds and became the best handball player in Luxembourg city. Then again, that was from a fictional childrens book called "Ball in Hand: You're mixing up your pool and handball terminology for the sake of a play on words" which I just made up in my head and has never even been written. I have a hard time believing that the physical peak occurs at 20, but I think mentally that's more or less true. I believe a mathematician once said if you don't make your first big contribution (to maths) by your early twenties, you're never going to.

On a slightly on-topic note, I like the vids of Evgeni training this summer. Here's to hoping he has another huge year
