We are proud to announce the 3rd Annual Pittsburgh Hockey Expo on Sat Sept 29th from 9am to 4pm at the Epiphany Church Hall located next to the Consol Energy Center. Phil Bourque will be hanging out and signing autographs from 10:30am to 12pm. Admission is FREE! There will be an equipment sale with a new inventory of game used sticks and game worn jerseys. The Pittsburgh Hockey Hall of Fame Group will have over 30 displays set up showing off game worn jerseys and game used equipment from the history of the Penguins. Got a set of Letangs gloves here the first year at a good price, as well as a few autographed photos for xmas presents. The event was awesome. Some great stuff to see.

Would be nice if this could be in conjunction with a home game. It would give out of town fans a better reason to make a trip for a home game!

There is a home preseason game vs Columbus at 3pm that day. Last year we did it on a Saturday vs the Sabres in December. The selection of Saturday home games this season was terrible.

Even though there is a lockout, the Expo will still go on! If you play hockey, you can't miss this event. I saw the prices on brand new sticks and they are CRAZY CHEAP!

I finally got to go. It was a really cool experience, seeing all of those pieces of history in the same place.
Got to meet 29er, get his auto and he let me try on his 3 cup rings - that was awesome!
All I bought was a used goalie stick for like $30 just to put in my future game room as a wall piece.

Not sure if you made it to the opposite back corner but the guy who had the row of jerseys gave an informal history of half of his collection. I think he talked to a few of us for a solid half hour, maybe longer.
What was the third ring from, IHL?

Don't they give broadcasters rings? Probably from 2009.

That was you? I was the smaller guy in the Pens hat and black jacket. Yea, Erik definitely had a lot to say.

29er had 1991, '92 and '09 ring.

Old school white Chiefs jersey from the inaugural ECHL season? I wore it since I knew there's zero risk of having condiments or beer spilled on it.

I talked to him a little bit later and he grew up in the same section of town that I used to live. Said he knew Dana somewhat but was a few years behind him in HS and that he (Dana) also collects. There's probably a small chance that I played against Erik during drop-in at the War Memorial.
That's the third or fourth time I've bumped into somebody from here and didn't know until a day or two later.

Man, those rings side by side like that. At that growth rate, in ten years they are going to have to starts giving out medallions on chains in order to hold the weight/size

I find it funny how the second one doesn't have the Pens' logo on the top of it.
