I just watched that clip from Daytona when Montoya somehow found a way to wreck into the jet dryer. He really is an awful driver.

I'm DVRing Denny's hotpass channel. I'll be sure to check in tomorrow tO talk about the 11's 5 wins going into the Chase and Rowdy's wildcard spot.

Not sure that Hamlin gets the win, but it certainly seems like Kyle has the wild card unless he gets caught up in a wreck.

There's really nothing behind that rain. I can see them having an hour or so delay and finishing the race tonight.

With Gordon absolutely sucking, this race is kind of boring now. Can't believe how bad he is.

A lot of racing left, but that non-pit stop might cost Kyle Busch

Disaster pit stop for the 18. They are throwing the Chase away

Every. Thing. Went. Wrong.

I cannot believe how costly that rain was. Hamlin was in a rocket ship. Then the separate pit schedules happen and the entire race was turned upside down. Had Kyle just pitted with one to go onthe last rain restart he would have had a top 12 and clinched. I CANNOT believe the 11 didn't win that race.

It was quite the drama the last 100+ laps. Can't believe the 15 made it on fuel. 11/88 pretty much sunk when they waited to pit, lost soooo much track position going slower, hoping for a yellow while few cars were on lead lap that never came.

Can't believe the 18 didn't make the chase. That loose lug nut was the difference, as without it they probably save 4-5 positions on the track and thus the chase berth.

And scary world, Gordon plans on regrowing the stache he had when he debuted 20 years ago.

Interesting race in some respects at Chicago. Gordon with bad luck, and Denny disappearing on the last lap, costing at least 7 points.

I went to race and got to watch it from the 11's pit again. I was surprised ESPN didn't report that he was short on fuel, as Grubb told him they were about 4 laps short and that he had to go into conserve mode. He was up to 4th before the last pit stop, where the gas man didn't get it full, and probably would have finished somewhere between 4-7 had he not run out. That's just crippling the Chase. Had he finished, say 5th, he'd be four points back of BK going to a track where he's likely to be the heavy favorite.

Otherwise, I thought it was a fairly boring race. Did anyone other than the 48 or 2 lead on non-green flag pit cycles?

The 11 goes from 28th to 5th in 58 laps. His goal was top ten by lap 100. He'll be leading at this rate, although the 18 looks to have similarly good set up. C'mon Denny.

P1 lap 94. Also, Marty Smith just mentioned a tweet from our DMcGrew on TV.

21 cars still on the lead lap. Given Hamlin's late troubles at Richmond, Spring Loudon, and Chicago, I need him to lap the field an eliminate any conceivable stress. C'MON!
