Personally, I think Flacco is a better QB than Romo. That's just me. I think the top 4 are obviously Brady, Brees, Rodgers, and Peyton (not necessarily in that order). Past that there's a group that are debatable: Ben, Eli, Ryan, Rivers, Flacco, and Romo. I would certainly put Flacco in that group of top tier, but not elite QBs.

End of the day, NFL QBs are measured by what they have accomplished. Ben would barely crack a top 10 if he didn't have 2 Super Bowl rings. Romo isn't terrible, but he hasn't done jack in the post season. Ben, Eli, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers, and Brady are all SB winning QBs. Are Romo's numbers any better than Rivers' (other than last year Rivers)? They are both guys that get to tread water at the bottom of the top 10 until they do something in the post season.

Huh? Roethlisberger's lifetime QB rating among active QBs is 8th.

If you go solely by counting stats, then his numbers are not going to rival the Bradys or Mannings of the world, but the idea that he's "barely" a top 10 QB is silly IMO.

More importantly, YPA is widely regarded as the single most important passing statistic for QBs. It correlates most closely with actual performance and passing quality better than any other statistic (see, eg, http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/co ... empt/5924/ ):

Ben is 3rd in YPA amongst active QBs.

Anyways, looking at the total picture (production, contribution to team success, personal opinion) my list would be:

9. Ryan
10. Vick

I would have said the same before week 1, but he appeared to be recovered for the most part in week 1. I'd have a tough time picking more than 4 or 5 QBs in front of Manning if I need to win one game today.

Haven't cared for the Bengals since Chad Jonson left the team, he was the only reason I liked the team in the first place. Don't really have a favorite team anymore.

TBH I completely forgot about him, didn't look at anyone else's list before I posted mine. If I did put him in he would have been in the 8-10 range.

Eh Manning had a very Flacco like game. 80 of his yards came on a bubble screen. He didn't play bad by any means, but I'm not ready to say he's "back."

Seemed like he could make all the throws, and he obviously didn't get any less effective at managing the game and playcalls from the line of scrimmage.

Last year NFL players were polled to find out who they thought was the best among them. Peyton was ranked the #7 QB in the league, and #50 overall.... and remember, he didn't even play a single down in 2012. (Ben was ranked the #4 QB, 30th overall, in the same poll, fwiw)

When ranking players, I always think of one criteria: who would I rather have at that position with a championship on the line? Stats don't enter into it..... am I more likely to win with tis guy, or with that guy? That doesn't mean that I simply rank players in order of championships won, but it's certainly a valid tiebreaker, IMO.

Take a hockey analogy, for example. If I was putting a team together, and I had to choose between Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier, the two most statistically productive players in NHL history..... I'm sorry, but brother Waynard will be on someone else's bench, not mine.
