This league wasn't around then (and is fantasy as opposed to the actual league anyway) so whatever happened then is irrelevant.

I'm not i'm making myself clear....the draft we're completing now is for the 2012-2013 season. If there is no 2012-2013 season, then we're supposed to take this team, regardless of whatever happens in terms of trades and player movement before the 2013-2014 season and just start?

Seems like some teams are going to really luck out and some teams screwed.

Apparently you aren't making yourself clear. Are you arguing for or against redrafting?

The problem with integrating the 2013 rookie class into the pool of available players is that it dilutes the value of the top couple picks. It also creates an issue of how we fully stock our team with what would have been 8 rookies. Would it be 2 rookies during the regular draft and an up to 8 round rookie draft thereafter?

I don't see a problem with sending the rookies back into the draft and still allowing only 4 rookies. It will just strengthen this rookie class.

I think we complete this draft, and then those rookies that were taken are on your farm team, and then the 2013 rookies go into the redraft. Then the same rules will apply to rookie keepers following the season. I think it will just result in a lot of tough choices following the 2013 draft and kick some decent 2nd year players back into the draft.

I was thinking that we select our 10 keepers from the rosters we are currently drafting. We would also keep all the rookies we are drafting now plus what we had before. That way, we would still have only a 4 round rookie draft next year.

As far as rookies with expiring contracts, you could also keep those 1 or 2 players whose lost rookie eligibility in the 11-12 season (just like we can now).

My bad. I knew my pick was coming up, and it was on Azkar for a little bit. I will pick now.

The only thing I have reservations about what is being discussed is that keeping rookies that are drafted this year puts those that didn't draft rookies early this year in a bad spot. We could redo an entire rookie draft? Or those that did not draft rookies this year could be bumped up to the beginning of next years rookie draft?

This isn't worth deciding or arguing over now. I suppose we would have to cross that bridge if we got there.

That is why I am saying we finish this year's drafts (regular and rookie), and if there is no season this year, we select our keepers for next year from the team we are drafting now, and the rookie draft will be just like any other year.

It's clearly worth discussing, if nothing other than the fact that we will be able to speak about hockey related items. I think the more we talk about it, the more we can address potential items. What if there is only half a season and a rookie plays all 41 games, does he still have rookie status?

I think its a good idea too. I think efforts should be made to keep the rookie classes separated.

In the cheese scenario, would people who had extra picks in this draft get them in the next? I would think they'd have to.

I would think we'd run the exact same draft we are doing now.
