Giordanos is the only thing I don't like about Chicago. Deep dish piazza...blech.

How safe is the area around Hard Rock/Magnificent Mile? Am I safe to walk back from O'Toole's or better off cabbing it?

How far is Wrigley from that area?

The Mag Mile looked safe to me.. its always loaded with people and its well lit. You'd be fine walking it.

You can take the red line subway up to Wrigley. Its a quick trip, only a few stops. I believe Addison is where you'd take it to. The Addison station is basically right across the street from Wrigley.

I used to live near O'Toole's. It's safe. Like any city, there's the one off crime that occurs there, but I'd feel safer walking from O'Toole's to your hotel than I would walking through Oakland or the golden triangle at night, if that serves as an adequate reference. No need to cab, although it would likely be $8 or so if you'd prefer.

Re Wrigley. The Red Line is the way to go. You're very close to the Lake or the Grand stops, and it shoots right up north quickly to Wrigley, which is about 4 miles away. It's, in fact, likely quicker than a cab.

we went for a hockey tourney in August.
don't miss Wrigley. sitting there and soaking up the history is more than worth the admission price. unless you can expense the parking cost I recommend taking the shuttle from DeVry. we hit Casey Moran's across the street for pre-game. gotta love a place that has a Pint o' Bacon on the appetizer menu.
we hit Lou Malnati's for deep dish, Portillo's for hot dogs and Mr. Beef for Italian Beefs. all fantastic.

Just do it. No one wants to hear a stupid story like "oh, i had a chance to go to wrigley but i didnt want to pay $44 for a ticket so i decided not go."

Not a bad seat in Wrigley honestly. Bleachers are fun if you want to drink/party.

Make sure you spend some time outside Wrigley, that area is one of the best of the city. Tons of bars/food...

Also check out Rush Street. thats another hot spot of bars and a lot of the premier restaurants in the city. Gibsons, Ditka's, Carmichael's , etc.... are all in that area

I got BullPen Box 34 Row B (next to Visitor's Dugout) for only $40. Pretty cool that I'll literally be on the field next to the dugout vs. behind it. Normally a $115 ticket.

Bleacher seats are still available, but it's Big 10 night and might get extra rowdy.

I'm going to Chicago in November but only for 2 days.. In on Wednesday out on Friday afternoon. Staying in Schaumburg. I see there is a Lou Malnatis 4 miles away so I'll probably check that out one night and then I'd like to find a place to get one of those Italian Beefs I see on travel channel the other night. Might take a cab into the actual downtown area Thursday night for dinner and to grab a few beers as it seems like this Schaumburg is akin to Cranberry in relation. Wish I had more time.

Googlemaps tells me it's 4 mi from Wrigley to the John Hancock Center on the MM. Believe it's safe to walk, YMMV on whether you want to spend the time and energy to do it.

I'll probably take the train (red line) to Wrigley. Walk several other places. Thanks.

It is. And after talking to some locals, I found out they consider Giordanos "tourist pizza".

It all depends on whether you like deep dish pizza....to me, it's more like a lasagna than a pizza.
I'm just not a fan of the whole idea.

Giodarno's is certainly the tourist pizza. But I don't like deep dish pizza generally. Too much of every ingredient and too hard of crust.

Thanks! I have been dying to find good NYC Pizza in the city. I eat Five Boroughs a lot, but honestly, the pizza is so bad in this city that I prefer Papa John's to most of the options. I'll definitely try renaldsis.

You are undoubtedly the first person to go to Pippins', O'toole's, and Howl in that order on a single night. Congratulations. What did you think?

Good time at each for different reasons. Liked Pippins best because it felt like a corner bar and the bartender bought me a couple shots of Jameson. TOT was a great sports bar with a ton of TVs and the food was good. Had a bucket if Miller Lites for $16. Wandered over to Howl and it was okay. Probably better if I had someone with me. Heading to Dicks Last Resort now to watch the second half. Had dinner at park Grill under the Bean tonight and it was good.
