I've lived in 1,3,7 and 11.

Wow, didn't realize how racist I am. :)

That article is beyond stupid. So, i guess white = racist, Huh? And for someone to say that all the black people live in the hill district is by far the most racist thing said here. The Author of that has to look in the mirror.

The only thing i can honestly say about Pittsburgh that i have seen in no other city is the atmosphere in the South Hills. The South Hills (Bethel Park, Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, South Fayette, South Park) is like it's own little world. Bethel Park is literally 97% white. The South Hills is like a little bubble that if you never venture out of, you would never see anything resembling the rest of the world.

The North Hills is exactly the same way haha. Pittsburgh is very provincial in that people from one part of the suburbs rarely wonder into the other part. I blame the lack of a beltway system to quickly get around to other suburbs. But yeah, Pittsburgh is fairly segregated, although the city area is making a comeback with young hipster types. But still, those terrible city schools are going to keep families in the suburbs.

What point is there to this article? From what I understand, the author appears to be just throwing out random cities and accusing them of being hotbeds of racism. Three of the four events cited in the “History of Racism” section for the Pittsburgh entry didn’t even occur any time recently. The racial beatings described at the Highland Park pool, for example, happened in 1931. How is something that happened 80 years ago even remotely relevant to race relations today?

That's like the old 'Burgh joke: How long does it take to drive from the North Hills to Mt. Lebanon? No one's really sure because nobody's ever made the trip.
