MLB playoff predictions

Postby newarenanow on Fri Oct 05, 2012 9:30 am

I couldn't find the other thread, so if this is in there, then erase, or combine. But what are predictions for this wildcard matchup? Mine are:

Braves beat Cards

Orioles beat Rangers

I agree with those WC picks.

Then:

Nats over Braves
Giants over Reds

Yankees over Orioles
Tigers over A's

Giants over Nats
Tigers over Yankees

Tigers over Giants

I don't really care what happens until the Braves are eliminated, i'll make predictions then. I fear the Braves facing the Nats without Strasburg. I could have been looking at them effectively needing to win 1 of the 3 games he didn't start.

I'm in an office pool. I have NYY over SF in 6 in the World Series. Of course I have the EXACT same bracket as another guy in the office (there are only five of us playing). The only difference is he has Detroit beating Oakland, I have the opposite. So even if I get every other pick right, if I lose that divisional series, I'm cooked.

I'd go then:

Braves over Nats
Reds over Giants

Yanks over Os
As over Tigers

Reds over Braves
Yanks over As

Yanks over Reds

This. It absolutely blows that they pulled him after the season they had. If he was in the lineup, I'd actually like the Nats winning it all.

But I think this will catch up to them now that the playoffs are here.

a high level of annoyance of these playoffs, EVERYTHING will be a reminder of the pirates ineptitude.

if kenny the kangaroo was strasburg, there is no effin way that kenny the kagnaroo hangs around that team when free agency comes around. the fact that they wont let him pitch is kind of insulting.

All this Giants love. Are Cain and Bumgarner going to just keep pitching on two days rest?

I actually think for some karmic reason the Nats will find a way to win in spite of Strasburg's absence. Or maybe its because I don't want to have to hear all the whining and outrage if they don't win.

Also, if the Cards or Rangers make it out of their WC rounds, I can either or both rolling through the divisional and CS rounds.

Haha, I know you hate Latos. I think the weakness of the Reds pitching has been the long ball this year. Not much of a concern against the wimpy giants line up.

After two failed trips to the WS, and the hot start, I was rooting for the Rangers to finally win the WS this year, and I still am. I'd love to see a Rangers vs Nats WS.

But they just seem to be falling off at the end of the season, and i think allowing the As to win the division is going to kill them. I don't see any way they win tonight.

I think Texas beats Baltimore tonight. the Os have been butt against the rangers this year, it's in Texas, and Saunders, the Baltimore starter, is like 0-6 with a close to 10 era and 14 Homers against in Texas.

Still rooting for Baltimore, though.

I am also rooting for the Rangers to win tonight and take the whole thing. Hamilton hasn't really been himself since returning from that vision problem, though. I bet he has 20+ Ks in the 15 or so games he's been back.

Edit: 18 ks in 10 games.

Being hot going into the playoffs doesn't mean much in baseball. Not sure why, but they were showing stats recently and whats goign on in September is not indicative of what happens in October. The numbers were close to being inversely related actually.

Is Verlander going to pitch every game for the Tigers? :pop:

But, seriously, I'm trying to figure out how the playoff team with the worst record is the top choice to win it?
