Anyone know how to fix a washing machine?

ok, so im hoping one of my fellow LGP members knows a thing or two about washing machines and can help me out. I have a Kenmore top load unit that no longer spins while in spin cycle. The motor runs, but it seems like its disconnected from agitator in someway. Im pretty mechanically inclined, i just rather not waste my time tearing it apart if its not fixable to begin with.

Broken belt or maybe a pulling snapped off inside.it sounds like a broken belt. Espically if the motor is humming and the agitator isn't spinning.

i lifted the washer up and looked underneath and the motor hub is connected right to the bottom of the basin, i thought belt first as well. is the belt hidden somewhere not out in the open perhaps?

Sorry android kinda took my last post and tried to fix it. Um.....I mean if the belt is connected Idk what to tell you. Does the agitator just spin when you twist it? If its not a belt or a broken pulley...I'm stumped.

yeah no belt is visible...the agitator spins freely, and SOMETIMES if you and spin the agitator it will spin on its own but very briefly

Belt is slipping. Loosen the tensioner and get a new belt. If no appliance store has em check Napa. Lawn mower belts will work.

There is no belt, it's a direct drive machine. Sounds like you've got a bad motor coupler.
