Confirmed:
T. Kaberle to Kladno (CZE)
Antropov to Astana (KHL)
Seidenberg and Goc to Mannheim (GER)
Seguin to Biel (SUI)
Couture to Geneva (SUI)

In negotiations:
Rozsival to Pilsen (CZE)

Jagr 1+1 in the victory of Kladno over Vitkovice (4:1). He did not play much in the last 2 periods due to an adductor muscle injury. His Sunday start against Sparta Prague is uncertain.

Cody Franson (TOR) has signed for my favourite team in sweden = Brynas IF.

Can anyone give me a scouting report on him, I do not know much about him.

Brynas looking to have him on the point on the first PP unit, is he good enough for that?

There is a good chance that on Saturday, Zdeno Chara will be in the Lev Prague lineup for the game against SKA St. Petersburg (according to Czech media, the surprising deal - Chara was supposed to go to Slovan Bratislava - is almost done).

Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn signed with the Hamburg Freezers in Germany, the team announced. If the paperwork is done in time, he could make his debut against Mannheim on Friday.

Bryan Bickell (Chi) to Znojmo Eagles (Czech team - well, Moravian :) - in (mostly Austrian) EBEL). The team apparently negotiated with Lecavalier for a while...
Znojmo also released ex-Nailer Paul Crowder (just 1 assist in 6 games).

Hudler and Lev Prague (KHL) parted their ways mutually, as Hudler will need to undergo serious rehab (stomach muscle injury).

Omsk (KHL) will no longer try to sign Giroux (PHI). According to Jagr, there is a good chance Giroux will join his team (Kladno). Kladno won all of its games after the NHLers joined the team (Jagr, Plekanec, Tlusty, Zidlicky, T. Kaberle).

In addition to Hudler (who already left the team due to stomach muscle injury), Lev Prague (KHL) just lost Jakub Voracek for ~1 month (knee) as well as ex-Penguin Alexander Pickard (also knee). Radek Martinek left HC Ceske Budejovice due to "family reasons".

In terms of performance, NHLers in the Czech Extraleague:

Good:
Plekanec 14 points (7+7) in 8 games
Jagr 12 pts. (4+8) in 8 games
Sobotka 11 pts (4+7) in 8 games
Tlusty 10 pts. (6+4) in 8 games
Cervenka 9 pts (3+6) in 8 games
Frolik 7 pts (5+2) in 5 games

[incidentally, Straka 10 pts (5+5) in 8 games]

Average:
Rask 2W, 1L 2.86GAA 89.66%

Bad:
Neuvirth 0W,6L 3.58GAA 90.00%

Ugly:
Pavelec 0W,6L 4.62GAA 86.35%

Funny:
Hollweg 1pt (1+0), +3 and 91 PIM in 7 games

For Franson. Big right-handed shooter (he's like 196 cm tall, big boy). He has a huge shot from the point. He's only an average passer really it seems. Solid breakout pass. Defensively, he's here and there. Sometimes it looks really good, sometimes it's a work in progress. He really seems to kind of hit a wall. When I first saw him, I thought he was going to be a second pairing defenseman in the NHL...and then he just never really progressed. He didn't get a whole lot better in the past couple seasons. His skating ability will be challenged in the bigger rinks of the Elitserien...he's not the fastest player, to be sure. He has a really long reach to help make up for it though. Given how young and inexperienced some of your D are, he'll be a solid addition I think...I just glanced through the lineup and I see some youngster (some still junior-aged players) and I see an import in Gunderson and I see an Eliterserien vet in Lars Jonsson (once a high pick by Boston a handful of years ago if memory serves). So, Franson has a good amount of pro experience which Brynas could use because they have some real talent up front with Harju and Jarnkrok...even the young Emil Molin, though relegated to fourth line duty, could maybe step in in case of injury (any thoughts on him, Lesky?).

The thing to note with Franson is that he's a restricted free agent here in the NHL, so regardless of any lockout situation, if he doesn't sign by December 1, he's not eligible to play in the NHL this season. Assuming the lockout lasts beyond that date, it makes sense for him to play some place for the whole year. And it's a quality league, where he'll get quality ice time. So it's a good match.

Old man Jagr went 3+1 today against Sparta Prague (Kladno won 5:1). Interestingly, Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk was in the stands to see his new roster addition (I thought there were some restrictions on whether the players and the team officials can be in contact(?) ).

Image

So far, Jagr has 20 points (8+12) and +14(!) in 14 games. Plekanec has also 20 points (in 15 games).

Here is the scoring race so far:
http://hokej.cz/index.php?lng=CZ&webid=386&view=
(yes, ex-Pens Nedved and Straka still in top 10)

Goalies:
Rask (Pilsen) is among the league leaders. He went 8-2, 1.97 GAA, 92.86%

On the other hand:
Neuvirth (Sparta Prague): 1-9, 3.52 GAA, 90.55%
Pavelec (Liberec) 2-9, 3.63 GAA, 89.39%

Tuukka is killing it, Neuvirth is blowing it...I'm satisfied. Wish Pavelec would pick it up though...he's a slow starter usually I think due to his questionable conditioning level...

Turtleneck Plek might be one of the best matches for Jagr in terms of centers in the world right now. Just such a great fit for each other.

On the goalie stat sheet, Tomas, I was able to pretty easily matchup what those columns represented except for "R" - is that just a misplaced "ties" column or something? I see no goalie has any...

Yep, R stands for "remizy," i.e., ties. Note that the template on hokej.cz is offering stats going way back until 1999-2000, so they keep the ties column there precisely to allow displaying the years when ties were still possible (here is, for example, the table for 99-00: http://hokej.cz/index.php?view=stats_vy ... ge=40&act= )

Regarding Pavelec: I think his DUI (and subsequent conviction) plus summer dating of this lady: https://www.google.com/search?q=Tereza+ ... hannel=rcs (they broke up at the end of the summer) might have indeed affected his preparation. :)

BTW, I forgot the important Daily Trivia: October 28 (also Czech Independence Day) 2012 is when a certain your player logged his very first start EVER in the Czech Extraleague - and he got an assist!
http://translate.google.com/translate?s ... dresu-5399
(he went to North America as a junior, and during the last lockout, he played in the 2nd League)

Some players are leaving the Czech Extraleague:
Kaberle, Pavelec back to Canada to wait for the lockout resolution.
Simmonds back to Canada due to "family reasons", Stewart back to German 2nd league because of the "lack of play-time" (but Simmonds 4+2 in 6 games, Stewart 0+1 over the same period). HC Liberec management quite angry about that, because both players were still under contracts.

New players coming:
Jason Chimera (WSH) just signed with HC Chomutov until the end of the season (with an out-clause)
Zbynek Michalek to join his brother (and Prospal, Ference, Hanzal) in HC Ceske Budejovice
Roman Cervenka (CAL) moved from Slavia Prague to Lion Prague (KHL)
Tlusty (CAR) will move from Kladno to Atlant Moscow Region (KHL) to make more money.

Other news:
Tuukka Rask confirmed that he will stay with HC Pilsen until the end of the season if lockout is not resolved.
