It boggles my mind that there are not more fiscally conservative/socially liberal voters. I guess its a product of the two-party system for our entire lives -- people seem to align themselves with their party of choice in lock step.

There are. But like you said, it's the curse of the 2 party system. No candidate is willing to buck the party line. And we're stuck having to vote for someone who vaguely represents this.
