http://blogs.sites.post-gazette.com/ind ... e-10-17-12Our Sid is all grown up. He offers many good insights about , the team, the mess in april, the trade... the lockout , the media and his training.
Good questions~ S Rorabaugh.
Dear Sid~ damn straight you don't have to take anything from players for on ice crap, especially the fly-boys.

It's a good read. But last I read it the editing was pretty awful.

I enjoyed this interview, I read it after Seth cleaned it up a bit (he said this on Twitter).
Sid will be starting his 8th season. Like I say about everything these days (kids, marriage, parents aging) - where does the time go? It seems like the rigged draft was just yesterday.

Easily the best interview with Sid I've ever read. Great questions, and candid answers.
I love that he referenced Scuds as "The Piece."
And I'm shocked that he had such great things to say about Lidstrom considering the total lack of respect he showed toward him in June 2009.

That was a very well done interview and reminded me why I don't read the hockey coverage in the Trib.

Awesome interview. Haven't been following Empty Netters as often without any actual hockey to talk about, so thanks for posting Penny!

Nice, but I don't like how he still chalks the flyers series up to some weird fluke. He keeps sayin there was no explanation, but it was pretty clear that we had awful goaltending and no one was interested in playing defense. Not exactly a head scratcher.

Perhaps he is saying there's no explanation for why they played like crap?

Think he does a bit though..
We learned a pretty good lesson there hopefully. We didn’t execute. We lost leads. We did everything possible to lose. We let in a lot of goals. Weren’t good defensively. The only thing that really came out of that was our power play was pretty good. But that’s not usually what wins you games. We got a pretty good lesson and we’ve got to learn from it.

Yeah I saw that but it was more telling that his initial response on multiple occasions was that he didn't know what happened.
Also, it's fun that he's clowning giroux a little, but that's another thing where he needs a reality check. I expect this team to continue their theatrics with Philly and continue to get burned. They'll unleash their collection of tool bags on our combustible guys, and we'll continue to embarass ourselves.

During the offseason, Giroux claimed you broke his wrists while taking faceoffs. Do you recall any plays where that might have happened?
”No. I really like to win the faceoff. I don’t try to go after his wrists but if I caught it, I’m not sorry for it. I think it’s hilarious I hear that stuff from Philly. It’s comedy to me to be honest with you. They’re probably involved in that stuff more than any team in the league and they’re the ones always talking about it. I guess I’m not apologetic. I was trying to win a faceoff and if I caught his wrist, then I caught his wrist. He seemed to play okay so I couldn’t have hurt him that bad.”
Let that Flyer hate out, Sid.

Great interview. This with that ~8 minute long "just off the practice rink" interview 3 weeks ago show how easy and willing Sid is to talk to. His honesty is so refreshing. After hockey, I suggest he run for politics.

It is surprising what you get when there are no PR people hovering around the players. Wish no PR people would be part of the new CBA!
