Unsolicited advice from a former Queen of the Failed Rescue Mission: Please don't be jaded. When you're 35, 40, OK, maybe. At 25, nah. Feel good in the fact that you have your crap together and try to let that be enough for now. It's a magnet for someone great, but the pull can take awhile.

I said, "maybe." I have heard from friends that, by around 40, the game has changed. New strategery, maybe even a flak jacket and helmet, are needed. Very dangerous, as the terrain is riddled with teenagers from first marriages. Can any of our romantic sages, our "Soldiers of Love," offer testimonials?

My advice to y'all is not to try and force a "square peg" in a "round hole" (get yer mind out if the gutter).

Seriously, you get pretty jaded when you end up 50-something and multiple failures in your history. It gets so you can't/won't trust ANYONE anymore.

Being single can be a challenge, but it sure beats going through a divorce or two (or three) and not having the benefit of those family relationships that get built up over the years of a solid marriage/relationship.

I deleted it be because I thought it just might be a bit too controversial of a subject for a 'family board'.

But, you've never heard the phrase "the rabbit died" before? I thought that was pretty widespread. I guess I'm showing my age. It was definitely widespread when I was in high school in the 70's.
