Frankenstorm

Postby PensFanInDC on Thu Oct 25, 2012 2:02 pm

I know this has been discussed in JTOR but I think it deserves it's own thread.

Meteorologists say it is likely to cause $1 billion in damages.

The New York area could see around 5 inches of rain during the storm, while there could be snow southwest of where it comes inland, Cisco said. That could mean snow in eastern Ohio, southwestern Pennsylvania, western Virginia, and the Shenandoah Mountains, he said.

At first im like, How will it be in Eastern Ohio, southwestern PA, but miss West Virginia. If they meant WV here, just :face:

Ground is still to warm for the snow to actually lay in my opinion. That snow can stay to the east of Pennsylvania.

I figured he might with the Shenandoah Mountains comment, but I still dont see how it would hit E OH, and SW PA but not WV. Thus leading me to think that western virginia was meant for me.

I would be somewhat excited for this, mainly because I doubt it does excessive damage in Pgh, but I don't like the timing. I was very excited to take my daughter trick-or-treating for the first time Wednesday and if it is pouring down rain or snowing, that would suck.

Every model is shifting more to match the European model, possibly bringing it up through south Jersey right into eastern PA. The Philly weather forecaster said that as of right now, the best case model (which is steadily worsening) indicates seven inches of rain or more are possible Sun through Wed down here.

That's going to be dicey, but you should be ok.

5PM NHC advisory just came out...track shifts further west, having it over south central Jersey as a tropical storm Tuesday afternoon

Latest model has the tropical storm over central PA Wed AM. Pittsburgh will definitely be getting plenty of rain and wind from this
