There are two things that are very clear from what he says in the article:
1) He loved his time with the Penguins; and,
2) He knows what it means to be part of a team.

VS another goalie its a fair fight, their jeresys fit the same. But a Heavy weight fighter vs a goalie, in that baggy sweater.... Johnson would of gotten a beating i believe. Even though he was still riding high of his KO.
