Watched Prometheus again last night. Didn't hear my 3 year old get out of bed, but as the final scene ended I looked back and saw him standing watching in horror. Might have scarred his childhood on that one. Needless to say, he slept with mom and dad last night and might until he's a teenager.

I haven't seen this movie, but I kind of want to see the expression. I imagine it was like "Smiley" only with horizontal eyes.

we had a nice little talk this morning, he is now under the impression that he watched a silly episode of sesame street with a silly baby monster that was hungry. I'm thinking I might have ruined Sesame Street for him now too, although we watch a lot of the older episodes on dvd from the 70s and they are pretty out there, so maybe he'll be alright.

we'll find out, if he starts having trouble sleeping, I'll just tell him Santa doesn't like to bring presents to kids who don't know how to sleep in their own beds. Little pro tip: once you bring santa into the mix, kids listen

"Bernie" was ok. They did it in a mockumentary style, which I felt was unnecessary and took away from the movie by disrupting the flow. The story was interesting enough that they could've done it with a normal arc, and you would've been able to gather everything that the townsfolk said when they cut away and interviewed them, but alas, it was not to be. Jack Black was really good in it though. Completely different role for him.

"Cloud Atlas" was solid. Felt a little long, but not nearly as long as it actually was, since it keeps you pretty engaged throughout the whole thing. Contrary to what some have said, the themes and ideas the movie deals with aren't overly complex -- it's just the way they are presented that can trip you up. Even if the movie weren't good (and it is good), it's exciting in itself to watch something this extremely ambitious on screen, and it's shame it's not doing well at the box office. I love seeing directors take big risks like this, and it's something we don't see nearly enough.

Informed sources tell Vulture that Star Wars: Episode VII has found a leading candidate to write the film’s screenplay: Michael Arndt, the Pixar favorite who was nominated for an Oscar for Toy Story 3, won an Oscar for Little Miss Sunshine, and wrote The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which is currently shooting. Insiders confirm that Arndt has written a 40- to 50-page treatment for the film and is likely to be at least one of the writers when the Disney/Lucasfilm project begins shooting in 2014.

i mentioned pixar guys in the thread when the star wars 7 was announced. their creative process has to be very very good. when you look at the overall body of work that team of people has put out it is consistently high. and its not just monetary success, its critical as well.

My disclaimer is that I did not care for the three made last decade, but I really liked this one. It seemed more real and less silly.
