Opening Day at PNC Park

Postby Bowser on Mon Apr 10, 2006 8:36 am

I am stuck at work, which means I am in an extreme foul mood.

I hope those who are going enjoy the smell of baseball.

just a dog?

From you, I expect 3 beers, a basket of fries, and 2 hot dogs... by the first inning.

And you better boo JD Drew!

no beer at Buccaroos but you know what... i'll have 2 dogs!

Me and Stoosh will be tailgating in an hour. I have nice bruises on my knee from curling last night so I have to drink lots of beer to ease the pain.

But its such a good deal there compared to the regular concession stands. I always get a few dogs at buckaroos :)

Jim - Major League Baseball blows.

The way the sport is supposed to be played, I love.

No, all baseball blows. It's boring to play and boring to watch.

Bowser I completely agree with you. When I hear people say things like "baseball sucks" it drives me nuts because most of the time they mean Major League Baseball, which is a joke really, the way it is run. If someone really doesn't like the sport of baseball, thats fine, but liking the sport of baseball and major league baseball are 2 different things. I love baseball, and depending on the time of year it is my favorite sport. I alternate between hockey and baseball depending on the time of year. They are the two sports I played for many years and I love baseball and hockey as a sport, but unfortunately MLB and the NHL to a lesser extent turn people off to the sport.

I'm glad you clarified. To each his own. I feel the same way about soccer.

Jim - Did you ever play sports? I can't recall ever being bored playing a sport. I don't care if it was baseball, football, hockey, basketball, tennis, volleyball, bowling or soccer.

Not to be picky toward you Jim, but I REALLY F'N hate it when people say baseball is slow and boring. Every single pitch of a game, something is happening.

Different pitches and location
Different defensive alignments.
Different leads off the base for a baserunner.

Every pitch.

Sorry but baseball is no less boring than hockey, basketball or football.

Yes I have. Football, hockey (non-ice), volleyball, wrestling plus not organized basketball, baseball, bowling and so forth. Never played any tennis though...

Sorry man, but if there was anything that was ever close to being a fact, while actually being an opinion... it's that baseball is slow and boring.

There is what, a minute... two (hours?) between pitches... and then a majority of those end up in the catchers mit... so the "action" lasts... 1 second... Yeah... edge of the seat action and excitement! zzzzz Opps... fell asleep even just thinking about it.

Looks like quite a few people decided not to show up to the home opener. Lots of empty seats.

Empty seats must be all those illegal immigrants trying to make a criminal statement by no-showing at PNC Park like they do paying taxes to help carry the burden of our great welfare system.

LOL.

It's still a good crowd. It's not empty. It's filling up more now. I just never understood having a home opener during the week at 1 in the afternoon.

Skullman - Trust me, if I hadn't missed a week with my wife in the hospital, no way in heck would I be here at work right now.

Point taken. It just seems a bit silly to me that's all. Not everyone can get off of work during the week.

Anyhow its a nice day for baseball, and while I don't follow baseball much at all, I do try to at least keep tabs on the Buccos.

Hopefully this is the year they can at least break .500....
