Tebow sucks BTW.
But i'll do you one better Godric, its truly pathetic that before Ben came around the Steelers went 21 years without a true successor to Terry Bradshaw. They went over two decades without drafting a franchise QB unless you think David Woodley, Cliff Stoudt, Todd Blackledge, Mark Malone, Bubby Brister, Neil O' Donnell, Kordell Stewart, Kent Graham and Tommy Maddox were franchise QB's. I don't. They could of drafted a franchise QB in Dan Marino but passed on him because they wanted to rebuild the team through defense despite the fact that Bradshaw was 35 in 1983 and no real successor in the waiting to replace him.
To me that's pathetic, but what you saying is bad as well.

I think the idea of young guys needing playing time to fully develop is so overrated. I mean, Aaron Rodgers rode the bench for three years and did pretty well for himself the first year he was called on to lead the team. You don't need to be the starter to learn the playbook and the Xs&Os behind football. The three hour window a QB has on Sunday is small compared to the amount of preparation done 50+ hours a week throughout the rest of the year.
Rodgers was brought in when they knew the Favre clock was running out. If they draft a guy to groom into a starting QB, that means they expect the clock to be up on Ben soon.
Rodgers sat for a few years and that turned out well. Would have have been as effective his rookie year as guys like Ben, Rivers, Matt Ryan, etc? Probably, but maybe not.
I don't think it would have hurt Luck to sit behind Manning this season and next, but he's showing right now he didn't need that. Hopefully he progresses some more next year.

the trend seems to be that you dislike really, really talented athletes

We drafted Dixon?
There is no reason why we can't draft a very Athletically versatile QB
and use him as a TE/Back
