We're born. We socialize. We realize the futility of it all. We die.

The story of us.

If it's anything like "America: The Story of Us" then I expect it to be nothing short of phenomenal.

God creates dinosaurs. God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man. Man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs. Dinosaurs eat man. Woman inherits the earth...

Because I'm an old man I passed out about half way through. I'll have to DVR it when it comes on again. But what I saw was pretty darn cool. Maybe not serious depth in what they were showing but certainly an interesting overview of how mankind started out and how things that spread the population developed and grew.

To be fair, some of the "experts" are strange. For example, the National Civil War Medicine Museum Historian - George Wunderlich - talking about the rise of Christianity, as well as an Egyptologist, Dr. Kara Cooper (who deals with much earlier Egypt), aren't exactly people whom I would take their word for regarding the rise of Christianity.

The stuff is pretty interesting, but it's scandalized & exaggerated, as well as being blatantly false in certain areas in an attempt to make connections that weren't there (anachronisms, if you want a more specific term). But it's still pretty intriguing, and they're at least trying to make history interesting.

Yeah obviously some stretches are going to be made but it's still really good... Sad that History doesn't do enough of this stuff anymore.

In 2005, the History Channel was probably the most watched channel in my house. Now, it doesn't get thirty minutes a month. Reality TV is cheap to produce, but it isn't history.
