I'll be watching the FB game while listening to the BB game. Hopefully two Pitt wins to start off the weekend well. If hockey was being played, this would now offically be my favorite time of the year with Pitt FB, Pitt BB, Pens and Steelers all playing.

Spent the last week in Covington KY. All they talk about is 'Coach Cal".

Gotta say I'm feeling bigtime KY HATE.

I really admire Tom Creen though. So I guess I'm an Indiana fan this year.

My two favorite terrible college basketball teams play back to back in the Puerto Rico Tipoff tonight, PSU at 5 vs NC State and PC at 7 vs UMass. Then when they both lose (not entirely fair, PC could maybe beat UMass) they will play tomorrow.

At least it's guaranteed that one of them will come out of PR with a win.

Side note: football teams can't miss class for a playoff but basketball teams can take a week off of class to go to Puerto Rico for a preseason tournament?

My Zips made roadkill out of PSU today.. 2 losses this season came in OT with 2 starters suspended because the athletic dept. didn't file some amateur status form last year for them. It's a shame because they'd be in the championship today against NC State in Puerto Rico, would love to see how they stack up against a top 10 team.

also there was a kid on the other team that went 34-44 from the field for 70 which i find more impressive than this joker chucking up 108 shots and making 52

Bevo Francis of Rio Grande held the NCAA scoring record with 113 points against Hillsdale in 1954. In 1953, Francis had 116 against Ashland Junior College. Frank Selvy is the only other player to reach triple figures, scoring 100 points for Division I Furman against Newberry in 1954.

Bevo Francis? What a name.

It's going to be an up and down year for Butler, but I never thought their ceiling would be this high. They rely on a freshman, Kellen Dunham, for a lot of key minutes, and an Arkansas transfer, Rotnei Clarke, for outside scoring. They'll have games this year when Clarke's shot doesn't fall and Dunham looks like a frosh. Moving to the A-10 is very good for them, and hopefully they'll survive it and be a tourney team this year. I don't see them in the upper third of the A-10, but I've seen stranger things.

its still not a bad shooting percentage, given the system (shoot w/in 12 seconds of the possession)

Turned the game off at the half. Turned it back on to see Hairston dominating and got pissed off that he only does it for a three minute spurt over the course of a game. Their uneven effort is what's frustrating, because they're simply not talented enough this year to win like that.

You think with all that time UNC isn't spending in class they'd be able to work on their game more. :slug:
