I saw Bill and Mickey from the Dead Inc. But I didn't notice the dude from Phish there. But yeah crap records sales or not.

Damon Krukowski of Galaxie 500 and Damon & Naomi breaks down the meager royalties currently being paid out to bands by streaming services and explains what the music business' headlong quest for capital means for artists today.

Galaxie 500's 'Tugboat' was played 7,800 times on Pandora in the first quarter of 2012, for which its three songwriters were paid a collective total of 21 cents, or seven cents each."

Travelling Wilburys. If you don't know about them, do yourself a favor and find out.

Shameless.

As for sharing our music without a business model of any kind, that's exactly how I got into this-- we called it punk rock

A lot of legend in that band. I also recall an SNL skit involving the Wilburys.

Doesn't get much better in my book. Last year, sometime, I believe, their website posted a video of basically all this old VHS camcorder footage of when they all started getting together at their various houses (mainly Dylan's) and playing, which turned into the Wilburys. It's like watching America's Funniest Home Videos, but with rock legends. I think they only posted it for a few days for their anniversary or something, because I can't find it any more. There is some good footage also on Tom Petty & Heartbreaker's 'Runnin Down a Dream' documentary, which is superb in its own account if you're a Petty fan.

Got to see Phil Cook of Megafaun play a free solo set tonight. Dude is insanely good. It's a crime that Bon Iver has made millions while the rest of his former bandmates from Deyarmond Edison (Justin Vernon + Megafaun) are still relatively unheard of.

I know a lot of people hate these guys... Why exactly? Is there a consensus reason?

Man, the Wax Tailor radio on Spotify is essential for getting late night work done. Caravan Palace is my adderall.

If you like the Wilburys, you also should check out Jeff Lynne's (ELO, proclaimed 5th Beatle for the Anthology sessions) solo album Armchair Theater.

I dig Lynne, and will always be thankful for his contributions to Harrison and Petty albums.

Check you tube for the 2012 performances.

Good guitar sound, but weak vocals.
(Can't blame them on the latter however.)

I'm thinking that you shouldn't go after watching those.

Oh well, I already missed Van Dyke Parks (Still kicking myself. Violently.), Patti Smith, and Lou Reed this week, so I might as well skip them, too. Then again... damn.
