My service was perfect...as in unreturnable perfect (80% of the time). I have my brother diggin out the dreamcast for me and I'm gonna start playing it again...it's been long enough that I'm getting excited about the mini games again

When NAN was 10, he handed the controller to his Mom because he couldn't beat the wizard boss in Dungeon 6. He also saved up enough rupees to buy the blue ring, but lost his money in the gambling cave instead. Then, he became the only player to get permanently stuck in the Lost Woods, failing to grasp the "Up left down left" strategy and instead wandering aimlessly, doomed to fight Moblins for the end of his meager existence.

None of that is true except for the first thing, and it was giving the controller to one person in my Cub Scout pack to get me the raft on level 3.

when playing friends in super tecmo bowl, did anyone else occasionally outlaw the nose tackle blitz? some teams had playbooks that couldn't defend it.

Used it for one game, never did it again. Not fair, not fun. Though - and I don't think I'm so good at anything that I think it might be "elite" level...except this game - I would often let my friends pick their team, pick my team, pick my playbook (if they chose) and spot them whatever points they wanted (well, not 60 or anything..."5" minute quarters). I was virtually untouchable at the game. And I really don't say that about anything...because I always assume that there's at least a million people better than me at everything...except Tecmo Super Bowl in my prime. Never needed to "cheat" at this game...never thought it was any fun to cheat at any game...even when I was young I just thought, "what's the point of playing if it's not a challenge?"

so you mean you used the NT blitz or not? i think you mean you didn't.

i assume you were always the best at tapping the button to break tackles? that was a big thing. my only real opponent was a friend that could beat me at that most of the time.

we used to set up tournaments where i'd pick a team then him and so on for 8 teams each or so. and then set up eliminations where if i won his team was gone and he'd pick a remaining team in his pool to challenge my team that won. i had birthday parties centered around this even.

and btw, i still call it super tecmo bowl for nostalgic reasons. it's what my brother and i called it and i still like it better.

No, NT blitz for me. I was only a big tackle breaker with power guys...more of a finesse, intelligent player overall. Would try different things in games to see if my opponent would notice (call the plays in order: 4 runs then 4 passes; call them in other patterns, see if I could prevent him from getting the ball at all in an entire game, etc.)

I remember in college, my friend said he was really good at the game and had an original NES in his dorm. So we set up a tournament, he gave me one of the worst teams in the league (I think it was Phoenix maybe? Maybe I got bumped up as high as Indianapolis) and he went through and played as every other team in the league in order: Buffalo, Miami, NE, NYJ, etc. all the way through and didn't win once.

I have a picture from when I was 7, from the first time when I "broke" the game...I scored 108 points to 0 with Philadelphia over Green Bay, but the game stopped at 99. I was so impressed with myself that I made my mom take a picture of it haha...

Genuinely surprised that so many people here were more into the inferior of the Tecmo Bowl series. Played the "Super" version a couple of times and was not impressed with random fumbles, extended quarters, etc. I guess it was kind of cool that they added the Steelers, but at what cost. AT WHAT COST?!?

My top 10:

1. Ocarina of Time
2. Super Metroid
3. Mario 64
4. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater
5. Mass Effect 2
6. Fallout 3
7. Tom Clancy's Rogue Spear (PC)
8. Metal Gear Solid
9. Castlevania Symphony of the Night
10. Resident Evil 2

It's always hard for me to make a definitive top 10 of anything, but this was the best I could do. It would have been an insult to me to not include Rogue Spear in my list. It was the sequel to the original Rainbow 6 on PC. I've never been as involved in a multiplayer as Rogue Spear. Was in a clan that was, at one time, the best in the community, and I've never been as good as I was in any other multiplayer game. I played that game so much, and it had a great online community.

So Rogue Spear is on there more out of respect. I probably would have included GoldenEye in its place. Haven't played GoldenEye since like 1999, but I've heard from many that the game doesn't hold up.
