12 directors who could make another Star Wars film.

Outside of Joss Whedon (who needs to spend his time making Avenger films), I wouldn't go for anyone on that list. My first thought was one of the Pixar guys like Andrew Stanton or Brad Bird and my cousin immediately said Kevin Smith or Bryan Singer.

Kevin Smith has said many times he doesn't want to direct anymore. You can actually hear his weekly thoughts about really anything on his smodcast podcasts.

Wish they would have made his Superman movie.

OMG, Vince Giligan looks like Dave Grohl's nerdy little brother, Chad.

Part of me would really love to see SW handed off to an un-produced director, or someone who only has maybe one film under their belt. But of the known names in the industry, the directors on my wish list are (in order of preference):

Peter Jackson
Christopher Nolan
Steven Spielberg (yeah, right....)
Bryan Singer

The ones that might bring the most interesting twists:
Ridley Scott (not that he'd do it)
David Fincher
Guillermo del Toro

Who will most likely get the job:
Gore Verbinski

I polled some co-workers on the question of who should direct the next SW installment, and one said - without hesitation - Jan de Bont. I love where I work.

Maybe they should give Roland Emmerich a call.

Vadar put a bomb in the Millenium Falcon, better hope that Corellian manufactured x2 hyperdrive doesn't exceed 650mph...

Regarding Nolan, which would you rather have him direct: Star Wars, Bond, or Justice League...

He really impressed me with his treatment of the Batman universe, so the natural parallel to that would be JL. I'm not really sure he'd be into Bond, which to me has always seemed just straightforward action pictures. Of the three, I'd go for SW just because it's different from anything he's ever done.

http://www.deadline.com/2010/07/nolan-says-hed-love-to-do-bond/

“I’ve loved the Bond films since I was a kid. For me, they’re always about the expansiveness of cinema. The first Bond films set up infinite possibilities about the world they create. I’d love to do a Bond film.”

with the success Skyfall will have with Sam Mendes in the director seat, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Nolan direct the next...

I thought the thread title was an anagram gone horribly wrong.

Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg have closed deals to write installments of the new Star Wars trilogy, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. The pair will write either Episode VIII or Episode IX -- their exact division of responsibilities is yet to be determined -- and also will come aboard to produce the films.

As THR previously reported, Oscar winner Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Little Miss Sunshine) is writing the script for Episode VII

how does that sound?

Huge thumbs up for Larry Kasdan. He's a known commodity in the SW universe, and wrote/directed "Wyatt Earp" (my favorite Western). Very pleased by this news.

I hope they reign in or limit Simon Kinberg. Kasdan can do it.

those deal with Luke restarting the Jedi Order, Han and Leias kids, and a guy named Thrawn trying to restart his own version of the empire.

I loved those books :fist:
