I was watching another live @ Mercury Lounge video and had this show up on the side bar of videos on youtube -- high-quality video full King Krule set at Mercury Lounge. For those of you that mentioned liking him.
I am jealous. I am a huge NY & Crazy Horse fan, and he isn't playing anywhere in the southeast, at least so far. Psychedelic Pill is pretty good, for the most part.
Just found out that there are two Israeli-born jazz musicians by the name of Avishai Cohen. One is a bass player in his early 40s, the other is a trumpeter in his mid-30s. They aren't related, although the trumpet player has two siblings that are jazz musicians of note.
I am a gigantic Deftones fan. I must say that the new album is a disappointment. I like Tempest and Leathers....but the rest of the album is kind of slow and depressing. Since they are in the post Chi era, Diamond Eyes is much better. This could change once I listen to it a couple more time. But so far...thumbs down.
Here's the Top 10 of Uncut's Albums of the Year list:
10 Bruce Springsteen - Wrecking Ball 09 Neil Young & Crazy Horse – Psychedelic Pill 08 Grizzly Bear – Shields 07 Ty Segall & White Fence – Hair 06 Bill Fay – Life is People 05 Frank Ocean – Channel Orange 04 Dr. John – Locked Down 03 Jack White – Blunderbuss 02 Bob Dylan – Tempest 01 Leonard Cohen – Old Ideas
Artists' average age must be about 67. As much as I love Leonard Cohen (and most of the others on that list) and as much I normally enjoy rading Uncut, they're seriously embarrassing themselves with their unconditional love and affection for the old guard (emphasis on guard). It is downright bizarre to see Frank Ocean on that list. I'm shocked that John Lennon's new band Tame Impala didn't make the Top 3 (they are 11th).
