I have to write a paper on "the ten events of the last decade that most changed the business environment"... Since it's 2012, and I want to include the obvious 9/11, I'm stretching it and going back to 2000. Any suggestions? Here's what I've come up with thus far..
9/11
2008 financial / housing crisis
internet and social media
Oil prices
Enron/Lehman
G20
Iraq/Afghan wars
Natural Gas exploration
Obama's election (maybe I dont want to include this due to my liberal professor and my conservative views...)
Invention of Smartphones
any other ideas?

If he's a liberal, then he'll likely enjoy you discussing the Bush tax cuts

how about the growing questions of the cost/benefits of the MBA? That would probably be a hit with your professor

you should just go for broke and say it's all the fault of the minorities.

I feel like 10 events in 12 years may result in me overblowing some non-important topics.

Should stretch it to 1999. That's when the economy was placed into a blender, spinning on high, that was super-heated and rocket-propelled at the same time into a turbine jet engine. Then you can appear unbiased as it was Clinton and the Republicans that did it. You'll have a huge range of dogcrap to discuss and how it was really the single most destructive thing to our up-until-2008 "pretty stable fiat economy."
BLAM.

IF you could get that book out of the library it would help give you details. It talks about a lot of technical innovations and how they're being applied in business. (I remember a big section about some of the things Wal Mart was doing)

Assuming that you have to write about these ten things you pick and not just list them.
