On Tuesday, the school bus was stopped down at the corner (hadn't let kids off yet) and my wife makes a left turn onto our street in front of it. The bus driver honked at her, and she felt terrible about it the rest of the day.
Fast forward to today, my neighbor informs me that one of the ghetto mamas has been smearing my wife's name up and down the street, using some rather choice words to describe her, was in our driveway taking a picture of her car, and gave it to the bus driver. Of course, she doesn't know the first thing about my wife.
I think I would be less angry if this was aimed at me, but I am absolutely furious. I really hope I don't find out who the person was either. So typical, turn a completely minor incident where nothing happened into the drama of the block for an entire week. Get a **** job you losers.
Just to play devils advocate... the neighbors don;t know your wife well enough to know that she felt horrible and wasn't just giving the virtual 'finger' to the safety of those kids. Remember, most people judge people by how they themselves might behave. So it says a lot that the 'Ghetto family' isn't giving her the benefit of the doubt.
Again, I'm just playing a bit of devils advocate here, but since your wife made the mistake, maybe if she reached out to these folks and said "hey, my bad, I didn't realize the situation until after it had happened and I felt horrible about it. I'll make sure it doesn't happen again.", maybe that would go a long way to difusing the situation. If the apology isn't accepted, hey a least she has the comfort of knowing she did the right thing and ... well... screw 'em.
