This might have been their easiest schedule in a long time. Broncos, Ravens and Giants are the only decent teams we are playing this year, everyone else pretty much stinks.

I agree that we should have had another backup who wasn't 80.

However, we saw last week that just handing the ball off doesn't always work either.

Dwyer needs to touch the ball more than 9 times. Running the ball 20 times was not enough with Batch at QB.

I agree, but at the same time, I can't exactly blame Tomlin if he lacked confidence that anyone would actually hold onto the ball...

That is really nitpicking. Most teams would love 3 of 4 at home down the stretch. The Steelers only threat in the division is Baltimore, and up until recently they've had absolutely ZERO offense, and even now its not great. And this feels like the 3rd year in a row they've played the joke AFC West

It's definitely nitpicking, but the early bye week, combined with back to back road games twice did a lot to keep this team from getting into any sort of rhythm. I know you need to create your own rhythm like the Giants did, trouncing the Packers after looking like **** the prior two weeks. This team has been out of sorts all year, I'm not going to state it's because of the schedule, but I would say that it might be an enhancing factor.

The worst part of the schedule is where they are now... Ravens 2 out of 3 weeks with the Browns sandwiched in between. That was always going to be rough... The injuries just exacerbated it.

Interesting little article that calls out both Dwyer and Woodley for being out of shape by Haley and Butler respectively.

more interesting to me was

Just because they make a comfortable living doesn’t mean some Steelers don’t dream of winning the Powerball. Casey Hampton, Shaun Suisham, Drew Butler and Greg Warren kicked in $50 apiece to buy 100 tickets for the $587.5 million Powerball drawing Wednesday. One ticket had four winning numbers — 5, 16, 23, 29 — and was one number away from a $1 million payoff. They had No. 2 instead of 22. They’ll settle for $105.

Ben has 35% chance to play. Sources say "doesn't look good." PFT:

Regardless of the label, we’ll be shocked if he doesn’t play. The notion that the dislocated rib threatens his aorta came from no one but Ben himself, and if he’s in no danger of serious injury the question becomes whether a less-than-100-percent Roethlisberger is better than the alternative.

Yeah, he was officially ruled out after my post. How noodly could Ben's arm be if Batch is the starter?

So the Steelers are 6-6 after this week...I see them finishing 3-1 at best, with a road loss to Dallas or home loss to Cincy (or both) likely.

What is the good news? At this point, the only three teams I think that contend for a wild card are Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Indy. Indy has a one game lead on PIT and CIN, and I think they will secure one of the spots. I know I said it already, but that 12/23 game looms HUGE for Pittsburgh.

Unless the D has epic performance (I'm talking multiple TDs or at least TOs deep in Baltimore territory... and even then, can we trust Batch or the RBs not to give it back?), pretty unlikely.
