9/11
2008 financial / housing crisis
internet and social media
Oil prices
Enron/Lehman
G20
Iraq/Afghan wars
Natural Gas exploration
Obama's election (maybe I dont want to include this due to my liberal professor and my conservative views...)
Invention of Smartphones
any other ideas?
Something you might consider for organization:
Categorize your 10 events under 1) Globalization 2) Technology 3) Energy and 4) Corporate Social Responsibility or something like that and put 2 or 3 under each. I'm throwing in other suggested topics under the categories. Forgive me if I've overstepped.
So, you might put 3 the following under Globalization:
9/11 could fit here because was an external geopolitical (crisis) event with economic ramifications
Iraq/Afghan wars
Obama's election
Emergence of BRIC Economies (Brazil, Russia, India, and China)
Technology:
Social media
Virtual teams (or asynchronous work)
Offshoring white-collar industry (legal services, radiology, etc.)
**Maybe relationship management -- B2B and B2C relationships stronger because of increased accessibility, info transfer, document sharing
CSR:
(A) Energy
Natural gas exploration
Oil dependency
Sustainability, alternative energy and green innovation
(B) Ethics
Shift from classical view (profit above all) to socioeconomic view (stakeholders matter)
Subprime mortgage crisis (so many parts to that puzzle)
SOX (you don't have to go into great detail because...yeah, ugh)
Madoff/Enron/MCI
