I can totally understand that. But what i don't understand is it taking this long. Something stinks here.

What stinks is the whole disgusting process. Both sides are more concerned about "winning" then they are about hockey, the fans and the people who need hockey to make a living. Very similar to our political system.

Yep, the NHLPA is doing it's normal "Drag their feet" technique.
I am guessing Fehr is assembling his group of players to meet with the owners, educating them on what to do and how to do it with the owners. Fehr will show them how to look and act united in that room, so they all convey Fehrs message loud and clear. This is going to divid them even more, i fear. I don't see Fehr letting any player in that meeting only the ones he trust to do exactly what he says. once he feels his players are ready he will allow this meeting.

So long as the selected owners get the same chance to pick the players they meet with.

Not to be Debbie Downer but I just don't get how this is really going to help. What are they going to do other try to show the players how wrong Fehr is.
Well, maybe that will work.

Nice mix of teams. Very, very diverse, financially. If these guys have a unified stance, the players are in big trouble.

Here's my predictions:
Craig Adams would be a solid choice since he was a Harvardite. But I don't know if the NHLPA would want 2 Penguins. So I'll go with:
Crosby, Backes, Doan, Parros, Langenbrunner, Biron

So no Crosby?
Please tell me that's true because i really don't like the idea of Burkle being across the table from Crosby. That would not end well.

I was just kidding. I would imagine Sid would be one of them - but have they announced anyone yet?

Not yet to my knowledge. I just hope things are done well on the ownership end. If Burkle is actually ALLOWED to have a voice here, there could be progress. But i doubt that will happen. The Penguins have a moderate stance on the lockout and Burkle is a very skillful negotiator who understands compromise. Those qualities are something the NHL wants nothing to do with.

No one ever said anything like that.... What are you talking about? I'm just not keen on two very important people in this city's hockey franchise being at odds with each other.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about re: the owners-players meeting.
The players will still be operating under D. Fehr's agenda - so what if he's not there

Agreed, if the players going into the meeting are spewing Fehrs typical message its not going to be productive. On the other hand if the small group of owners talk Bettmans message the meeting will go no where. I would feel alot better if each team had a rep. there so all players can hear what the owners message was.
You got to remember these players hold no real weight. Sure some big names Thorton CHara Crosby, but in the end i don't think the owners can break that small group.
I can only see progress being made if the owners talk slowly with small words. Putting it into context that Fehr isn't explaining to the player. Fehr explains the big picture.... "Bilions of Dollars" the the owners explains per each players it a small percentage of ones salary... But these players would have to be ready to go to their union brothers and have them rise up and revolt. Not going to happen.
