I had lunch here today and they - outside of SF - are the cream of the crop for "mission style" burritos:
http://www.barberitos.com/Forget Moe's/Qdoba/Chipotle if you are in the South and see one of these.

round corner cantina in lawrenceville. hole in the wall mexican place. tremendous guacamole. had two difference tacos: carnitas and pescado (mahi mahi). mahi was tempura crusted with crema cabbage and radishes and cilantro. carnitas served with radish cilantro cucumbers and onions. both were delicious. pretty impressive 22oz beer bottle list as well

You need to go in the summer and drink in the back outside. One of my favorite happy hours in the city.

I love this place. Excellent margaritas as well. Not your normal run of the mill kind.

Speaking of Mexican, has anyone tried Steel Cactus on Walnut Street in Shadyside?

El Campesino is the best mexican I've ever had.
Went to Armstrong's for lunch. Very good.

I got some pad thai from sesame inn (one of the few places in the south hills you can get it), I was happy with it.

Went to the one in Coraopolis today. Is it the same place? I think it might be. Not sure.

It is good, but you should go to the Benihana in greentree if you want to meet some famous people. The bartender told me he was single handedly responsible for Antonio Brown's breakout season last year, he teaches some sort of jujitsu or something. his evidence...cell phone picture with him, wallace and brown. ( I was trapped in conversation till the rest of my party arrived)

Ok, I haven't heard anything about the place, and never felt compelled to try it. Sounds like my intuition was right.

Well, there's princess lanes and that's not going anywhere....then there's that downstairs alley next to it that I think is still there.

I've never been there. I don't even like going to princess lanes.

Oh yeah, I think his name is Marty. He'll talk your ear off
Went to the BnD'z Burgerz and Dogz in South Park (I think cheesesteakwithegg mentioned it earlier in the thread) and I give it two thumbs up

I had breakfast at some self-described soul food place today: lamb and roasted vegetable omelette, grits, biscuits & sausage gravy.
It was seriously the best breakfast I've had in the last 10 years.
It's only 6 blocks from my apartment.

went to verde for breakfast. i had chorizo con bizchocho y salsa - corn and plantain biscuits with chorizo gravy. very tasty. one biscuit was a little burnt though. i would recommend asking for a poached egg on top if possible, i think it would add a tremendous element. fiance had caballeros pobres - brioche french toast stuffed with jalapeno cream chese, topped with mango marmalade and cinnamon syrup. delicious. also house cured bacon was tremendous
