...On the cover no less. I heard this story this morning on tv, but didnt know about the cover until just a little bit ago. Obviously they are being heavily critisized for it. And to top it off, the photo was taken by a guy who said he was running his flash to try and warn the conductor. And once I saw the photo I can't help but think that wasn't the best course of action that could have helped this man. Furthermore, they say he was pushed and I havent heard anything regarding if they caught this person. I linked it below, because while the photo isnt gruesome, its certainly unsettling. The headlines almost more so.

I read the attached article. If the photographer truly was just firing off his camera flash to warn the driver to try to make him stop...why did he sell the photo to the Post?

That is sick. Not so much the photo, but the post heading all over it is the worst part.

On the news yesterday they said that no less than 50 people die each year on nyc tracks, one way or another (not necessarily pushed by someone, just accidents or suicides).

It's a remarkable photo. But I see no reason why it should be included on the cover of a magazine.

I never understood why they just don't put a retracting barrier up....
How hard would that be?

Maybe the panhandler was irritable and angry because he was being forced to eat Bloomberg's healthy choice options down at the soup kitchen for the last month or two. Where is the mayor's culpability in this?

Super expensive.
I have no idea how there are 0 people that die in this manner in Chicago every year.

I'd argue 50 people being killed a year is more expensive.

I doubt it. It seems like a majority are suicides or people entering the track on their own.

I’ve seen a surveillance video of a drunk guy who fell on the third rail on the NYC subway. After a while, he caught fire. Some woman on the platform kept screaming “Why doesn’t someone help him?” Lady, there’s smoke coming out of his ears and his clothes just lit up. I think he’s beyond help.

All the jackholes who stood around and didn't help that man should be round up and stoned to death. That's despicable. I won't help the poor guy, but I'll sure as poop make sure I get a photo of it! ("flash to warn the driver", yeah right)

I don't think there would be a chance to help him either by pulling the man out or getting the train to stop.

They had the guy who took the photo on I think the Today Show this morning. Or I may have just seen a clip from Headline News, not sure. But my earbuds crapped out on me at the gym this morning so I couldn't listen. I'm also wondering how long the guy was down there before a train was oncomming.
