There are still some huge names available - I'm shocked that 3 goalies have been picked to this point given how weak the overall franchise goaltending has been.

When Barrasso and Fleury are your top 2 goalies in 45 years, YIKES

Each team's draft strategy has become very clear.

With the 16th overall selection, the Degloving Kings are proud to select from Togliatti, Russia:

Alexi Kovalev

I went back and forth between Kovalev and 3 others. But in the end, I felt Kovalev was too talented a hockey player to leave out there. But by no means is that a swipe against any of the players I didn't select. Kovy marveled me too many times.

I'd like to select, from the mean streets of NYC, Joe Mullen! (and his neck roll)

Good picks guys, falling behind in bios...

Fleury's is done. Barrasso's is nearing completion. Binkley's shouldn't take me too long after that.

Lots to discuss with goaltending. Barrasso/Fleury might be closer than I initially thought. I'm re-convinced myself that everyone that has picked a goalie to this point reached for one. Myself included with Barrasso.

Guys are peeling right off my "due up" list left and right, which is good to see!

I agree we all reached on goalie, but when building teams from scratch you reach for positions that have small pools of high end talent. The opportunity cost was too great IMO.

Love the Kovalev pick - one of the top 10 most talented players of all time, and a superstar when with the pens (his 1st stint)

Popular claim, but none of these guys is underrated or underappreciated. They're all in the HoF.

I see what Colby is saying. I don't have any sexy players. Good teammates, guys that think the game.

Same.

It's tough to explain - even though they're all HOF'ers, they all still seem underrated. Maybe the media never made a big enough deal out of them.

Maybe just because they were there when Lemieux and Jagr stole the show.

Perception at the time and in retrospect is that Larry Murphy and Ron Francis were very underrated. Quiet guys that did their job very well, often in the shadow of someone bigger than them (Coffey, Lemieux, Jagr). Hard to find contemporary sources that don't reference the underratedness of Murphy and Francis. They got rated pretty fairly at the end of the day though I feel...Murphy with considerable Norris consideration, Francis recognized defensively and compiled plenty of points together over a long career.
