Grilli decision imminent. According to Rosenthal, he has 2 yr offers from 4 teams including the Pirates, and will sign with Pittsburgh unless someone ups to 3 years like immediately.

Ken Rosenthal had both Grilli and Karstens on his list of "5 best value" free agents, which also included John Lannan

Seems like a rather lateral move, similar stats although Kaminska seems to have better control. Maybe just did it because Stewart is more ML ready (?)

All in all there have been a lot of weird moves this off-season - I feel like they're just going in circles.

Guess we won't know if it's worth it until the season

Bucs must not have valued Kaminska much, considering they didn't protect him from rule 5

What would you feel comfortable paying Grilli for 2 years?

anywhere from 6-7 is decent value, if he maintains similar numbers and/or fills in for hanrahan.

There's been a false report circulating that he signed with the pirates.

I could get onboard if its around 6. I'm curious if the talk with Seattle regarding Hanrahan/Jones has cooled until after Hamilton signs.

Apparently the Jus10Up10 and Hamilton thing is holding everything up...

Texas wants Upton, if they get him they will sign Greinke, if they don't get him they will sign Hamilton, if they don't sign hamilton he will go to Seattle, if they do sign hamilton Greinke will go to dodgers, all kinds of other weird ****

I would love to see the mega 4-team deal go down but would not like to see Hamilton in Seattle. Isn't it rumored to be something like:

To Texas: Justin Upton (sign Greinke)
To Arizona: Asdrubal Cabrera, Taijuan Walker/Danny Hultzen
To Cleveland: Trevor Bauer, Mike Olt
To Seattle: Derek Holland (Texas out of Hamilton running = Hamilton to Seattle)

Yeah something like that, but I think Seattle may end up not being involved, or needing a better piece other than Holland and less competition to sign Hamilton, at least if they're going to trade a top-10 prospect.

That would break down like this:

Texas trades Derek Holland and Mike Olt for Justin Upton - obviously Texas is going to have to pitch in more
Arizona trades Trevor Bauer and Justin Upton for Asdrubal Cabrera and Taijuan Walker - They probably have to get more
Cleveland trades Asdrubal Cabrera for Trevor Bauer and Mike Olt - Seems like they're getting too much
Seattle trades Taijuan Walker for Derek Holland - obviously going to need more

Yeah, that's basically my thoughts as well. Maybe Nick Franklin goes to Cleveland and Arizona gives up less than Bauer, while Texas throws in another piece to go to Arizona.

Edit: And Walker stays put.
