Bielema gave an interesting interview on Mike and Mike this morning, talking about how his move to Arkansas, while it gave him a minimal raise, was more so he would a) be able to coach in the SEC and (perhaps most notably) b) have enough money to hire a quality assistant coaching staff. Evidently his budget was only $300,000 at Wisky

I don't get why he keeps crapping on Wisconsin on his way out.

Yeah, I was surprised at the candor (aka crapping on Wisconsin) he displayed during his interview. He is most certainly burning bridges permanently with his comments.

I'd say he thinks he's helping Wisc.

I'l bet if you ask him, he believes that if he makes his reasons for leaving public, the school and the boosters will step up and rectify those issues.

That's essentially what happened after Dick Fraud-riguez left WVU, all of his demands (those that weren't blatent NCAQA violations) were addressed and resolved.

I've seen the same thing happen again and again and again in business. Boss asks for certain things, is told no, boss leaves, replacement is hired and given the exact things the guy that left wanted.

Downside is hurts chances of brawl. ND going into ACC rotation helps Pitt OOC scheduling in terms of open spots. Ideal would be PSU/WVU/Open/Cupcake + 8 ACC games.

I thought ND was doing ACC for basketball only? Or is this something with how they do their Independent scheduling?

ND committed to 6-8 ACC games per season even though they aren't officially joining the conference in FB.

They committed to 5 ACC games per season on a rotating basis, playing every team once every 3 years in FB.

That's hardly the first incident there that's been pretty swiftly swept under the rug in the last several years. I think of Declan Sullivan, the poor kid that was asked to go up in a camera tower in the middle of a windstorm with 60 mph gusts and fell to a horrific death. Absolutely unbelievable, considering Kelly is the one that ordered him up there, that Kelly wasn't immediately fired.

Kelly's lucky he didn't get charged with manslaughter, let alone fired. What he did with Sullivan was reckless and negligent.

I started following college football in 1986 when I was about 11 years old, and when I first understood ND, I wasn't much of a fan. Over time, I grew to respect them and actually have taken a liking to them, in part because my dad is a fan and we had an absolutely terrific time during our only trip there in 1999 (still want to go back). If you're any sort of college football fan, it's really something to see if you've never been there.

But stories like that in the WP and also the Declan Sullivan thing just make it very hard to want to see that program succeed. I cannot stand Kelly to begin with - good coach, but the over-the-top theatrics on the sideline, the red-faced screaming at his players...it's just too much.

And while I know stuff gets covered up at every program, this kind of stuff just makes me cringe.

Some still argue that ND got off light and there wasn't enough media and public outrage surrounding Declan Sullivan's death.

Logically yes, but so often bias comes into play in these kind of votes.

Don't really want to vote for a Freshman, but... SEC! And who is KSU? And No way I'm voting for a LB. Johnny FB it is.

FTR, I have no problem with the vote... I'm just surprised because I've come to expect otherwise (such as Jason White beating Larry Fitzgerald).
