Are You Ready for Some Football - Steelers/Chargers

Postby shafnutz05 on Sun Dec 09, 2012 10:34 am

Sorry blackjack, I waited around for the GDT :D

Wow....southeast Pennsylvania gets royally screwed today (in more ways than one, because I would even take BAL-WAS as an alternative). Miami-SF? Blech

At least you named it right.

Thank God for DirecTV. Only the second game I need it for all year, ut I'm glad I have it.

Also glad I negotiated a lower rate on it.

I've been a customer for about 12 years. Each year I call and say, "When I first signed up, the package was $189. The $300 you're asking now is just too much. Is there anything you can do to lower it, especially since you are giving it away for the first year for new customers?"

Most times they will drop it to below $200. Many times in the form of monthly bill credits. Sometimes you get a "no" and then you call back a week later and get someone else and it works.

I usually do this 2-3 weeks before the season starts. Once the season starts, it is much harder.

We suspended our D* account temporarily for a few months until we bought a new place. When I called to re-instate (around week 7 of the season) the rep voluntarily offered up Sunday Ticket for the rest of the season for free as a thank you. I'm doing the online CenterIce package from now on, so I think next year my sports TV dollars will go towards trying to get Sunday Ticket for cheap. Similar situation, 12-year customer - we've probably spent over $15,000 on television programming - so I'd like to think that's wort a bit of a discount.

Rather than getting DirecTV or something, I just go to the bar when necessary. Its a good opportunity to hang out with friends from the town I lived in the last two years...also happens to be up PFiDC's way. :pop:

On CBS NFL today has been talking about guns and murder for the first 13 minutes. God we get it...but if you look at the thug mentality of the NFL, should you be all that surprised?

CBS took a beating for not leading with it last week. So they overcompensated this week.

This should be the easiest of their 4 remaining games;which makes me nervous. After a big emotional win I hope they're not flat. This is a game where you have to step on their necks only to keep a bad team from getting into trhe game.
I'll be interested to see if Beachum can continue his surprising play from last week.

Between the first 15 minutes and this bountygate segment, this is the weirdest edition of The NFL Today on CBS.

I noticed that. They've kind of flipped back and forth over the years. It's one of those border areas that has fans of both teams.
I don't see a double header on either the Fox channel or on either CBS affiliate that I get. Usually they alternate the double header.

I'm waiting for Anthony Hargrove's nose to start growing here. Between murder, guns, and bountygate. CBS is very annoying today.

There's tons of them whining on their Facebook page making empty threats about boycotting sponsors and never watching their network again.

Guess no one wanted to go to this game, quite a few empty seats to start the game.
