Was considering Tyler Wright as my 4th line center as well...then I remembered he went 91 straight regular season games without a point... :face: how?

I guess he's an ok fourth line center at face value until some proof surfaces that says yea or nay...his unbelievably low ice time figures in 1999 are quite damning. He had six shots on goal...by the all-star break in '99...as a comparison, Jaromir Jagr had six shots on goal, opening night against the Islanders...

If I was going to go BPA, then no Tyler Wright is not a good pick. There are much better options. But to fill a hockey team out you need guys like Tyler Wright on your hockey team. I still don't know how he went 91 games without a point considering he is NOT a bad offensive hockey player. Hell, he eventually became a 20 goal scorer (albeit not with the Penguins). He is Talbot before Talbot IMO.

I remember the heated debates on some other board when Wright was lost in the expansion draft. Good times. Well, not really.

Haha, is that right? I wasn't quite on to team-based message boards yet. The only forums I posted on were hockey card related still, where we talked hockey but not quite so in-depth. You say those weren't "good times" talking about losing your fourth line center in the expansion draft, but then just a few years later we basically got to talk about an expansion team's roster (we fielded one every night) and how we would love to get an NHLer like Tyler Wright off waivers or whatever. That's basically the type of roster we fielded right before the lockout, that of an expansion team. Nothing but rejects...

Yeah, as you would expect it turned into one of these mainly black & white debates: One half of the fanbase called for CP's head, because he gave up on the new Mike Ricci or whoever, the other half shrugged it off as losing a dime-a-dozen player.

With the 101st pick in the draft, Muck, Grind & Repeat is happy to welcome Petr Sykora to the organization.

Sniper, sniper, sniper. Can also sniper. Underrated leadership qualities. Good complimentary winger.

And this was kind of a big deal...

Opps, not that goal. This goal -

Tyler Wright was one of my favorite players. He once fought a heavy weight enforcer and he totally picked the fight. He was a small dude, but impressed me with the size of his heart that day.

Wow, I really thought Petr Sykora went a while ago...good pick at this point I think...

Is there a case for him being a better Penguin than Peter Lee even? Despite the GP advantage for Lee? I think there just might be...

I would say Lee had more game to game consistency, but Sykora had a higher ceiling.

Oh, he was tweeting his all-time Penguins first and second teams yesterday and asked his followers to do the same.

Here they are:

Dejan Kovacevic ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic
Awesome lists. Here's my first team: 25-66-68-4-55-35 (4-Burrows, 55-Murphy). Burrows best ever D for this franchise. Brick wall.

Dejan Kovacevic ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic
Second team, for fun: 19-87-17-77-5-29. ... (19-Pronovost, 17-Kehoe) Ulf redefined franchise's toughness. HUGE in Cup years.

Dejan Kovacevic ‏@Dejan_Kovacevic
Players it kills me to leave off those two teams: 71, 10. Next level: Apps, Kaspar, Gonch, Letang, Tocchet, Lucky, Kovy, Lowell, Carlyle

I seem to remember him posting before (maybe it was the old board), but some people just can't help themselves and had to be dickheads, so he stopped. With Madden it was the other way around.

I don't get being a jerk to any media personality. I think it would cool to have him be allowed to post on the board without the excessive hate that some from LGP emit.

But, LGP has some hipsters that don't want people in. I understood anger towards Madden for his negative comments about Admin and the board, but DK seems to be pretty cool. :shrugs:

First of my picks will be Al McDonough, RW. 156 games played, 56 goals, 130 points. Solid on the PP and in a checking role. Had his best career year with the Pens in 1972-73.

And to fill out my D corps, I'm going to take Paul Martin.

He really gets a bad rap from fans because "hurr he doesn't hit" and people nitpick his mistakes to make themselves feel better, but I believe he is a solid guy with a good breakout pass and solid positioning who wouldn't be playing ~ 23:00 a night if he sucked.

That's as far as I want to justify this pick right now; most of you know how I feel about Martin.

And before you look, he has played 160 games as a Pen.

I think Martin is a fine selection at this point. My question is, you say that McDonough was used in a checking role...were you able to find any information on his defensive ability? That would really make a good pick at this point if you did. Otherwise, it's not bad, it's probably about right at this point in the process.
