It's 106 miles to Chicago. We got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hit it!

Pretty good. Just finished. Can't put all the pieces together yet. Entertained.

Good explanation.

I liked the first bit the most I think. It was the most creepy.

I agree. Really came out of nowhere.

Spoiler:
Just wikied it and it doesn't appear that the stories are connected, which I think is too bad since it seems like a really great thread could have been made; like the girl in the first bit was also the one from the last and all the alien/demon people could have been working together, which could also explain how the frame narrative criminals got lured into the house. Or something.

This is 40 wasn't as funny as I thought it would be. It was about a half hour too long.

turned off Magic Mike about half way through, nothing really happens, not sure if the 2nd half picks up, but it was boring (although I did pick up some new moves)

Killer Joe - now here is an F'd up movie, McConaughey is pretty awesome/creepy. It's sometimes hilarious and boring and by the end, your not quite sure what you just watched. Had a blue velvet kind of feel for some reason.

Hunger Games -- Eh.. it was ok. Not as bad as I thought it would be. It at least kept me interested.

Magic Mike -- Fiance watched this one alone, she said it was ok, but nothing great.

I didn't read any of the spoiler conversations when the movie first came out...

Spoiler:
This movie was very disappointing. High expectations going in, started off very strong. But, to paraphrase "Hang 'Em High" by Van Halen, somewhere the movie lost it in a turn, and trouble seems to fit it like a glove. Great concepts laid out early, but it just turned into B-grade drivel. Really hack plot twists and amateur use of dialog. Please, the "captain" basically revealing the WMD angle in a throw-away line? Awful. Serious waste of potential in the Theron and Pearce characters. Killing off a main character early on? You're taught not to do that in 2nd grade, for a reason. Loved the effects, though.

2/10.

Spoiler:
The movie lost its turn when Damon Lindelof was hired to rewrite the original screenplay. He basically removed all aspects of the story that (logically) tied it into the Alien franchise and turned the movie into a jumbled mess. LV-426. Alien eggs instead of black goo. Facehugger/chestburster instead of the stupid squid thing. Derelict. 15 foot tall engineers. Could have been awesome, but it wasn't

On another note, I finally got the time to watch The Dark Knight Rises again. I know it flies in the face of Froggy's opinion, but I love the movie. I could nitpick here and there, but I don't feel like it. I just enjoy the movie too damn much, and with that Nolan's franchise as a whole. Those three movies are just flat out awesome. Are they perfect? No, probably not. In reality you could find issue with anything if you look hard enough. The Godfather is arguably the greatest movie ever made, but Sonny punching 2 feet short of Carlo's head is one of the funniest mistakes I have ever seen in a movie. But as someone who grew up watching Batman on a continuous loop and is currently staring at a collection of Batman books on my shelf, Christopher Nolan gave me more than I could have ever expected out of a Batman movie, let alone a trilogy.

One thing I do wish (a wish, not a complaint) is that The Dark Knight Rises was the 4th movie in the franchise. I could apply this feeling to most superhero movies, but I would love to see a movie where the movie is just Batman kicking ass. Taking down crime bosses. Battling the rogues gallery. The meat of the story isn't redemption or tragedy or questioning your existence, its Batman being Batman.

I revised my opinion of TDKR. It was upgraded to disappointing. Most of the stuff I didn't like had nothing to do with the main story, or the performances.

Still hate Prometheus, though

I wanted so so soooo badly to like Prometheus. When I finished watching it I was like "ohh that want too bad. It was okayish". But after a day I gave up on lying to myself. They made a mess of that movie.
