That's one of the problems. Top QBs need to be consistent. I just can't put flacco into the top ten when he has so many ups-and-downs from game to game.

Who else in the league is consistent, though?

You have the top 4, then the next 4. After that, the difference between QB's is pretty much negligible at best.

It's pretty much impossible to pick the last two. They're all interchangeable. Just threw out Flacco because he's the only one out of the ones remaining that's been mildly successful in the playoffs. Cutler sucks, Sanchez sucks, Vick sucks, Alex Smith sucks, Stafford is just as inconsistent... who's left? They're all the same.

dont confuse playoff wins with good playoff performances. flacco is butt more often than not in big games. he has played exactly 2 quality playoff games in 4 years, and i think his career playoff qb rating is still among the worst on record

But, like I said, anyone after the top 7 or 8 is pretty much interchangeable.

I'm going to sum up Romo talk with this post. I really hope this thread takes a new direction after this, because I promise this wasn't my intention.

I'm big on Romo... why I rated him 5. I was immediately questioned on that selection and then this thread became side tracked, which I apologize for. I didnt have his stats memorized, although I did know he had really good splits in all situations. I just quick googled them when debate came up (all those stats are on his NFL.com profile, wasn't like I went searching forever for some pro-Romo campaign lol). I realize quarterbacks are judged by championships, I just feel that's ridiculous / worst argument ever. When I first joined LGP i was actually warned by an unnamed LGP mod because I had similar argument over Drew Brees when I was "obviously trolling" for saying he was better than Ben. That may seem ridiculous now, but a couple years ago he was viewed in simlar light as Romo. I try to judge by what I actually see in talent / not results of team (similar to what NFL scouts do with NCAA talent). My opinion of Romo just happens to differ / I feel a lot of people are influenced by ESPN media.. For example, if you want to throw in fumbles too.. Romo still has a lot less turnovers than most NFL qbs

OK. I swear I'm done and I wasn't expecting this response. I can't believe I've gone on such a long rant defending a dallas qb that I obviously don't root for.

If by "on" he means that someone beats coverage and flacco doesn't overthrow them, then he is definitely on when he is on.

Like I said, it's impossible to rank them after the top 8.

Why? Stats are good for contract negotiations, and that's about it.

Yeah they are good for contract negotiations, because contracts are negotiated with individuals. Games and championships are won by teams.

Here's the whole problem with picking a solid top 10 (and I've mentioned it about 20 times ITT):

Super Bowl 38. Tom Brady (MVP), 3 TDs
Super Bowl 39. Tom Brady (Deion Branch), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 40. Ben Roethlisberger (Hines Ward), 0 TDs
Super Bowl 41. Peyton Manning (MVP), 1 TD
Super Bowl 42. Eli Manning (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 43: Ben Roethlisberger (Santonio Holmes), 1 TD
Super Bowl 44: Drew Brees (MVP), 2 TDs
Super Bowl 45: Aaron Rogers (MVP), 3TDs
Super Bowl 46: Eli Manning (MVP), 1 TD

9 Super Bowls right there, all won by 6 QB's, and many of them are against other guys on the list.

That's because good teams have good quarterbacks.

Thats certainly the popular thought. The reality is that the only real requirement is that good teams have good defenses. A great defense with a competent QB or a good defense with an elite QB

Actually watch Romo, he's a great qb...

...at turning the ball over

Nice try, but...

Romo

73 ints in 2,621 attempts or.. 1 int every 36 attempts

Eli
186 ints in 3,053 or...1 int every 30 attempts

Ben
101 in 3,353 attempts or... 1 int every 33 attempts

You guys are just brainwashed by ESPN

ESPN made it seem like Romo blew another big game last night by turning the ball over 3 times. Damn them and their brainwashing.

Romo stayed relevant longer than ben and eli, so i guess the comparison was good. Romo is not though. Pop

Ben was pathetic down the stretch. He probably thought he was going to die if he got hit wrong. Neanderthal Ben wouldn't have cared. Married with children Ben was totally tweaked.

Agreed. Unless he mans up and walks out on his family. That little newborn parasite is already draining Ben's lifeblood and talent out of him
