Lamar Patterson is a joke. JJ Moore should start over him and what is up with the lack of rebounding?

Frustrating game. You let Rutgers get that huge lead in the 1st half then Pitt starts to get their stuff together in the 2nd to cut the lead but everytime they got close to tieing it, they let Rutgers get back in the game.

But hey atleast they got a three point buzzer beater to only lose by five. That mean nothing since we still lost, but i'm always trying to look for something positive out of a crappy outcome.

Joe Starkey would agree with you. In his new years resolution column, he wrote:

"Jamie Dixon: “I will find more playing time for J.J. Moore — even if it means wing time at the expense of Trey Zeigler.”

Well it don't get any easier for them as they how have to go to DC to play Georgetown.

I'm sure Jamie Dixon will have a whole bunch of excuses for the season, don't worry.

This would be a huge win for Pitt, and so far they are looking real good. Hope they can keep it up in the second half.

It was a good win no matter how you slice it. Just one game though. Adams was very influential.

They beat a Piss Poor Georgetown team. (I don't care what G-Town was ranked... they were rank)

None the less, I agree with your second statement. It was important for that one to end up in the win column. I just don't think that game really showed much about the make-up of the Panthers.

Still given how they played (in this case outstanding) you can't overlook their preformance regardless of how the opponent played. I can see us not taking much from this game if it was a squeaker but we dominated that game from start to finish againist a ranked team. I mean we had a great outside shot, doing well on rebounds and free throws and defensively we were smothering the Hoyas holding them to less than 50 points and Steven Adams was a big part of it. Also given how the Panthers played the last two games, this type of game was much needed.

Gtwon took Indiana to OT, it's not as if Gtown is North Florida.

Still, it's just one win over an opponent that likes to play at the same speed Pitt does.

Given how they played in the last two games, it was a very important win.

i think people make too big of a deal out of a 1,2, or 5 game sample of the regular season in basketball. its about creating trends in play, boosting confidence, etc. having a "bad" start to the conference play because of 2 games isnt fair, nor is washing away those alleged bad starts with 1 exceptional outing. can bad habits form from bad streaks? yeah, but thats what coaching is about. im not a pitt fan, but ive kept up with them this season. Its a decent team...better than i expected honestly. they arent without their shortcomings, systematically speaking, and i think Dixon lets them run out of their comfort zone in stress-based situations (how their last loss got away from them with poor 3 point shooting in poor shooting situations). i think theyll contend for the conference and get to the 2nd round of the tournament, maybe sweet 16 at best.

dont know how much more somebody can ask for given they arent in the NBA caliber player rankings of college basketball--something i dont anticipate on changing anytime soon.

this is just my random view. dont take it as my hard-pressed soapbox stance.

And Pitt's FB team took Notre Dame to triple OT... i certainly wouldn't say that validated Pitt as a superior FB program. So what's yer point? ;) ;) ;)

Correct. GT could be the WVU of the basketball season. Got highly ranked playing a weak beginning of the schedule, beat one good team, and then their true colors come out and fall apart to really show they are the piss poor team they always were. 8-)
