Geno and Sid on the same unit, that's the problem. Any 'relegated to the 2nd unit' yammer is just bs. Either one of those guys coming over the boards to face the opponent's weaker pk is an advantage that is waiting to be exploited. They can easily get similar pp time, too.

We only have 1 defenseman who is capable on the PP. as long as that's true, we will never split our forwards up. No matter who is out there, if the point men are Martin and niskanen, the unit won't score.

I don't buy that. Second units score plenty. A second unit with Sid or Geno would only be better. I'm also thoroughly sick of the pass-happy system of gracious deferral that the current pp has been for the last several years

Sid and Geno like to play too close to the same spot, so the power play basically cuts off of (on their own) 1/3 of the ice that needs defended. Since both are fairly inept at the point, me not being a coach dont know how to fix this other than making Malkin right handed.

Our second unit has been a disgrace for as long as I can remember.

Could only be helped by an infusion of Sid or Geno ;)

Malkin only out there for 30 seconds
Crosby and Malkin out there together for a minute
Crosby only for the last 30 (if they haven't scored)
Each gets 1:30 on the ice. Problem solved... ?

When letang was out last year, were we even at 10%? That's a preview of a 2nd unit with Sid and Geno split. The QB is incredibly important. You can't overcome bad point men.

I dont think malkin is good enough to play right handed. Crosby probably could though.

And if the puck is in the attack zone and we have possession one of the forwards is just supposed to skate out of the zone and to the bench (creating a 4v4) to change so that it works out?

I'm assuming that the puck is being cleared when the change is made

He is the source of all Pen's ills.
