Hockey in general could use a few upgrades in the broadcast department. It seems these outlets are just like the NHL, old school clubs.
Get some new blood, some guys to dissect and explain the game. Well spoken, good speakers.

No more Roenik, Jones or Millburry making fools of themselves with stupid comments constantly.

The NHL needs to do a better job in the national television broadcast in the United States with NBC Sports and NHL Network.

I don't want to see Jeremy Roenick, Keith Jones, Mike Milbury, or Pierre McGuire. Would like to see former players who want to grow the sport, former coaches to help with in-game strategy, and a former general manager to help rumors and league matters. I like what CBS does with Charlie Casserly as former GM, Jason LaCanfora as national writer, Bill Cowher as former coach, and then three former players with Shannon Sharpe, Dan Marino, and Boomer Esiason.

There are some great personalities in the NHL, get them on tv and grow the sport.

What if the casual fan watches a game because he is at home and intrigued. And at a break these idiots start yelling about about garbage related to the code of the game or something stupid. Doesnt help grow the sport. Have some analyst dissect the game, full speed, promote the skill it takes to pull something off, anything. But stop with the consistent message to the fans as if they are the voice of the sport, the code and all in between.

Don't crucify me, but I think Errey could do well on the big stage... as long as he doesn't try to be funny. He usually provides really good insight.

If you ever watch Errey on NHL Network, you can see how good he really is when he wants to be serious.

I grew up listening to Mike Lange when he was the TV guy, its hard to get used to anyone else after being spoiled like that. Steigy was a good color man with Mike. Steighy and Errey are ok.

Actually i like Jay on the post game show, he breaks down plays well and explains nicely what you are watching.

Have you guys ever watched an Ottawa game on their home feed? It has been absolutely gorgeous. No super-zoom where you can see player sweat at the sacrifice of the camera man not being able to follow the puck. They keep the cameras nice and high and zoomed out so you can see the entire zone the puck is in, watch plays develop, etc. If this guy had anything to do with keeping the camera zoom at a minimum during the live (non-replay) portions of the game, then we are in for a real treat.

As a group of us have been saying to FSN/Root for years, ZOOM OUT! I hope I'm not jumping the gun in thinking that maybe they've finally listened.

Somewhere eventually, but a good woman color announcer would be a nice switch up. Kathren Tappen i bet would be good at it.

I agree with others who would like to see some changes in the way hockey is broadcast. Things like robo cams above the glass are a good start.

One of the best things that happened to NFL coverage in the last 20 or so years was actually the XFL. They brought in people with different perspectives on how to film and cover the games. It never hurts to get some fresh ideas.

Id love to see an on ice cameraman, though I know that falls close to the impossible category. I also hope for all sports in the not too distant future that we will be able to chose which camera to follow, the way NBC's website does for NFL, NHL, and some Olympic competitions.
