Im not being a smart a-- but would any of that really help? Im being serious, I dont have a lot of knowledge of the statistics.
I do know that I read recently other than Chicago, Detroit, DC etc crimes are way down across the country.

Since people obsess over the sensationalized crimes, I dont see any of this actually helping. It seems it may help more with
"normal" criminal activity I guess, but nobody seems to care about that anyways.

Another 9/11 is unlikely to happen because, in the extraordinarily unlikely case of a hijacking, the cockpit doors are sealed and people would never let them take control of the plane again knowing what we now know.

Another major terror attack is inevitable. When I say another "9/11", I am talking about multiple airliners being taken over and flown into different high priority targets. That is unlikely to happen again.

There is never any excuse for death threats, but I love the rest of the response to that newspaper that released the map of all of the registered gun owners in Westchester and Rockland Counties. When you essentially treat a law-abiding portion of the population like they are child molesters, what kind of blowback do you expect?

I especially love releasing all of the reporters' home addresses. Turnabout is fair play!

What's ironic in this whole debate is that many of the strongest advocates for gun control have made continuous "joking" references about shooting members of the NRA, other gun rights advocates, etc. Heck, just last night, Piers Morgan and Buzz Bissinger were having a good laugh about shooting Alex Jones, and made overtures that they hope his family doesn't get shot.

On Twitter, I can show you countless tweets from outraged liberals seriously calling for a mass murder at NRA headquarters, and assassinations of other prominent gun rights advocates. Are these people not demented? The legal gun-owning population is no scarier than any other portion of the population, unless your narrative dictates it.

Assault weapons are used in the commission of less than 3% of gun crimes, which is a subset of the larger population of 'violent crime'.

If people got this bent over everything that caused deaths, McNuggets would have been outlawed 20 years ago. But there is an obsession with 'assault weapons' because they look bad; half the text of the '94 AW ban and the current bill deals with cosmetics of the particular weapon..... pistol grip, collapsible stock........

After having a week to digest all the fallout, I think the publication of the list has been an incredible disservice to everyone in Westchester who does not own a handgun, and who therefore did not have their name and address published. The map represents a veritable no-fly zone of houses to explicitly avoid for any criminal who might be planning a robbery in the county. All they need to do is look at the map and see that their target house is not listed and bingo! (Granted, the list does not show the presence of long guns, so there is still an element of risk)

But aside from that, there are judges and prosecuting attorneys and police officers name's on that list; there are an awful lot of criminals behind bars that might have paid someone money to obtain the addresses of the cop, DA and judge who sent them up the river. There were also multiple battered women on that list whose addresses had previously been undisclosed.
