Maybe he has a better season? Like he did his last year in New Jersey when he was tearing it up before his broken wrist kept him off Team USA? And his fairly solid first season in Pittsburgh? Or is that not possible?

Paul Martin's best attribute in NHL 13 is his speed

I only hate Wipe Out because it isn't MXC :pop:
So, I can see the parallel you're making.

Everyone's best attribute in NHL 13 is speed. In fact, its the only attribute that matters. Well I haven't played nhl 13, but if its like every other nhl video game made, then speed is the only attribute that matters.

I love this quote:
"Paul is a good hockey player," Bylsma said. "You just ask around the league. You just ask the players he plays against. He's a good hockey player."
Well of course they are going to say that, they all know that the more minutes the Pens play him the more likely they will beat the Pens. What is sad is that fans can see he is worthless while the coaches can't. Makes you question the brain capacity of the coaching staff when even Paul knows he was terrible.

Martin reminds me of Lidstrom. Similar style, build, etc. The only difference is, Lidstrom knew how to play defense, and Martin doesn't. The reason he was "successful" in NJ was their trapping, clutch-and-grab style. With the Pens he has been exposed for what he is: a soft defenseman that cannot defend one on one, and is easily pushed around in front of the net.

Look Martin played poorly last year, and not great the year before, but he also spent a lot of time paired with Michalek. Michalek was exponentially worse than Martin - so giving Martin a new partner should help stabilize his game.

There was a time last season for about a month stretch where it could be argued that Martin was the best blue liner on the ice.

No no no. Don't you get it? Martin is the new whipping boy. He can do no right. Stop making sense. Put your blinders on. And get in line.
