Technically, you are probably committing petit theft. And you both agree that there is nothing. wrong. with. it.

What if I'm intending to use it on the meal I bought from them, but didnt? Did it start off as not being theft, then turn into theft?

seriously? I know places that automatically throw plastic forks and spoons in the bag for your to go order. I also know places that just have that stuff sitting out. Whats the difference? I'm not grabbing handfulls because Im too lazy to do dishes or dont want to buy my own silverware. How many napkins are acceptable to take?

But that's not what Dudeman said. He said point blank that he grabs a bunch of cutlery with the intent that he doesn't feel like washing his dishes at home. The example you just put is COMPLETELY different than what we were just discussing, of course there is nothing wrong with that.
Edit: If Dudeman grabbed one set of cutlery with the intent of using it on that one meal, I have no issue with that. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't even have an issue if he grabbed his one set of cutlery he is entitled to with his meal, knowing he would probably just save it for later.

Make sure you leave enough room in your pockets for the hot sauce and pint glasses

Secondly, how do you chain down a glass bottle.
Finally, cant you still get all the sauce you want? What was ruined?

Which is like stealing from yourself since the losses they incur get passed down to the consumer.

In which case it's not stealing right?

count2infinity wrote:Is the question in this thread "is it stealing..." or is the question "is it okay to take..." I think there's a huge difference. I've taken pint glasses, plastic glasses with logos, hell i've even stolen a steak knife before. The difference is I recognize that all of these are theft. I don't see myself as a big time criminal, but it's still stealing. The hot sauce bottles are the same way. Am I upset that you take them? No, that's your perogative, but don't try to rationalize it as not being theft. It is theft no matter how you look at it.
